BROWARD COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A man is dead after police say he crashed his motorcycle in a single-vehicle incident on Sample Road in Pompano Beach. The Broward Sheriff’s Office issued this statement on Sunday:

“Detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit are investigating a single-vehicle motorcycle crash that resulted in the death of a 25-year-old Fort Lauderdale man.

At approximately 9:13 p.m., Friday, March 17, Parker A. Harness was traveling eastbound on a 2016 Yamaha motorcycle on Sample Road approaching Northeast Second Avenue. For unknown reasons, detectives say Harness lost control of the Yamaha, and the rear tire struck the raised curb as the front of the motorcycle crossed over the sidewalk.

As the Yamaha continued across the sidewalk, the front tire of the two-wheel vehicle hit a concrete pole where it began to rotate around the pole. Both the driver and motorcycle were redirected in a northeasterly direction back into the roadway. The Yamaha and the rider then slid across the roadway and came to a final rest in the eastbound thru lanes.

BSO deputies and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue responded. Paramedics transported Harness to Broward Health North, where he was rushed into emergency surgery. While in surgery, he was pronounced deceased at 10:47 p.m. The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation. “
