BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Popular Boca Raton Italian eatery La Sorelle Downtown was ordered closed by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation on April 18th. It was permitted to reopen the following day. The problem: insects, rodents, and food problems.

Per BocaNewsNow.com policy, the following is the official language used in the report filed by the DBPR inspector:

High Priority – Live, small flying insects in kitchen, food preparation area, food storage area and/or bar area. Approximately 5 live flying insects landing on hanging glasses at the bar Approximately 10 live flying insects at soiled laundry bag in kitchen.

High Priority – Rodent activity present as evidenced by rodent droppings found. Approximately 25 rodent droppings on bags of flour in dry storage area in kitchen Approximately 25 rodent dropping on floor in dry storage area in kitchen All droppings removed. Area cleaned and sanitized.

High Priority – Stop Sale issued due to adulteration of food product. 1 dead fly found in a bottle of Amaretto at the bar Approximately 20 dead flies found in a bottle of Vermouth at the bar Bottles discarded. See Stop Sale Torn packages/bags of food exposing the contents to contamination. See stop sale. At dry storage room in kitchen, 2 torn bags of flour with rodent dropping on the bags. Bags discarded. High Priority – Toxic substance/chemical improperly stored. Bottle of bleach stored on expo station next to salt, plates and marinating fruit. Bleach moved **Corrected On-Site**

Intermediate – Torn packages/bags of food exposing the contents to contamination. See stop sale. At dry storage room in kitchen, 2 torn bags of flour with rodent dropping on the bags. Bags discarded. See Stop Sale.

Basic – Bowl or other container with no handle used to dispense food. At bin of flour, item with no handle. Item removed **Corrected On-Site**

Basic – Food stored on floor. At walk in cooler, tomato sauce stored on the floor. Sauce moved to shelving **Corrected On-Site**

The restaurant was permitted to reopen on April 19th, 2023.
