UPDATE: 5:10 p.m. — The meeting is ongoing. GL apparently requested several homeowners in their communities to speak on behalf of the company, but at least some are now speaking AGAINST the GL Homes and the project. There appear to be several — what can only be called “delusional” New York transplants with no understanding of the Ag. Reserve speaking in favor of the massive project. Community speakers, and there are scores, are overwhelmingly against the project. We will update once a vote occurs.

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners today is expect to DENY a request by builder GL Homes to erect 1200 homes on farm land the company owns just north of Clint Moore Road along the west side of U.S. 441. The land is in the Agricultural Reserve.
GL wants to give Palm Beach County a water reservoir, and other incentives, to obtain permission to build. But a huge number of Palm Beach County residents oppose the plan. A BocaNewsNow.com request for reader response led to more than 150 negative responses — all written as comments. Elected officials seem poised to block the plan from GL which is the builder of The Bridges, Boca Bridges, Seven Bridges, Lotus, Dakota, and Valencia properties up and down Lyons Road.
This is the official “announcement” from the Palm Beach County Commission with details of what is being considered:
Indian Trails Grove – Ag Reserve Exchange (LGA 2022-021)
To modify previously adopted conditions of approval and conceptual plan for the Indian Trails Grove site found in Ordinance 2016-041.
The privately proposed text amendment request would modify the Western Communities Residential Overlay (WCRO), Western Communities Residential (WCR) future land use designation, modify existing policies and establish new Agricultural Reserve Tier policies as described below:
Revise the policies of the WCRO & WCR to allow for a 532-acre expansion of Water Resource/Agricultural uses and establish an exchange of development potential for use in the County’s Agricultural Reserve Tier;
Revise Ag Reserve Tier Sub-Objective 1.5.1 to allow for specific Agricultural Reserve Planned Unit Developments (AGR-PUDs) to utilize WCRO land to partially fulfill the 60/40 preserve requirements;
Establish a new Sub-Objective for an Overlay in the Agricultural Reserve Tier in the “West Hyder” area to allow for a new AGR-PUD with 1,277 units and institutional uses west of SR-7, using WCRO land as preserve area for AGR-PUDs; and
Revise the Map Series Special Planning Areas Map LU 3.1 to create a new overlay within the Agricultural Reserve Tier for the West Hyder Overlay area.
