BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Boca Bash was Sunday but the arrests continue to be processed following the annual boating — and often drinking — event on Lake Boca Raton.
The latest arrest: Andrew Shiple of Delray Beach. He was arrested and charged with “operating a vessel while normal faculties impaired.” Shiple refused to take part in a field sobriety test, but that didn’t stop Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officers from arresting Shiple and logging the following narrative, reviewed by BocaNewsNow.com.

“On Sunday, April 30, 2023, at approximately 1800hrs, I, officer Patrick Watson was on marked vessel patrol in Lake Boca, Palm Beach County. I observed a vessel under power, identified by its Florida I number as a 23ft Hurricane. I contacted the operator identified by his Florida drivers license as Mr. Andrew Shiple. I smelled alcohol emanating from Mr. Shiple’s Breath.
Mr. Shiple had blood shot eyes, was unable to follow basic instructions such retrieving life jackets or operating the boats horn. Mr. Shiple was unstable on his feet and admitted to having recently consumed alcohol. When asked to perform standard field sobriety tests Mr. Shiple refused. I warned Mr. Shiple that if he did not perform standard field sobriety that I would have to base my arrest decision of off my observations up unto that point and asked him again if he would like to perform standard field sobriety tests.
I then arrested Mr. Shiple based the signs of impairment I had already observed on the stop at 1813hrs. At the Spanish river command post, Mr. Shiple refused to provide a breath sample after being read implied consent. Mr. Shiple was transported to the Palm beach county Jail, Main Detention Center by Boca Raton Police Department.”
Shiple, 24, was booked into the Palm Beach County at 11:21 p.m. Sunday. He was released several hours later on his own recognizance.
