BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Smokey Bones in Boca Raton was just ordered closed due to a major bug problem.

The Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation ordered the restaurant closed mid-day Thursday. BocaNewsNow.com has learned that the problem is an insect infestation. More than 130 flying insects were found in the restaurant.

While workers are inside attempting to mitigate the situation, all food service is ordered stopped. There is a sign on the door, affixed by state officials, announcing that the restaurant is closed.

Smokey Bones is the latest South Florida restaurant closed for an insect infestation — a continued problem in the region. Closures traditionally last one day. We will update once we learn from state officials that the restaurant has been given the “all clear.”
