DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The statue of Billy Penn, the original British proprietor of Pennsylvania, and founder of the City of Philadelphia — is completely and totally unrelated to the Billy Penn just arrested in Delray Beach. William Penn of Pennsylvania was born in 1644 and was a Quaker. He died in 1718.

William Penn of Delray Beach was born in 1997 and is now facing weapons and drug charges, according to the Palm Beach County Jail. While the affidavit of probable cause continues to be processed Friday, BocaNewsNow.com has learned Penn was arrested Thursday afternoon and booked into the Palm Beach County Jail around 5:40 p.m. He’s being held on $3,000 bond.

According to arrest records, Penn is charged with “possession of a weapon or ammunition by a convicted Florida Felon,” “Marijuana possession with intent to sell, manufacture, or deliver,” and “driving while license is suspended or revoked.” It was not immediately clear what led to Thursday’s police interaction with William Penn.

Penn, of SW 6th Avenue in Delray Beach, has several previous interaction with the legal system in Palm Beach County. William Penn of England and Pennsylvania was briefly imprisoned in the Tower of London for Blasphemy.
