UPDATE: 9:01 a.m: The Boca Raton Police Department tells BocaNewsNow.com that the drive of the overturned vehicle is expected to recover. We are still awaiting further details on what led to the crash.
BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — No word from Boca Raton Police more than sixteen hours after what appears to be a critical crash in the City of Boca Raton Sunday afternoon.
The mid-afternoon crash on Yamato Road near I-95 shut Yamato for several hours. It was not immediately clear what led to the crash, how many other cars were involved, or what led to what appears to be a BMW SUV ending up on its roof. We also still do not know how many people were in the overturned SUV.
Witnesses say there was a large police response with paramedics on the scene. However, while the crash appears serious, it does not appear to be fatal. A fatal crash would have likely resulted in Yamato being closed well into Sunday evening, which it was not. Requests for information were not answered Sunday evening.
We will update once the Boca Raton Police Department releases information, presumably later Monday.
