BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Multiple sources are reporting Tuesday afternoon that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis will enter the Presidential race on Wednesday with an announcement on Twitter. If that announcement comes between 6 and 10 a.m., listen to South Florida’s First News with Andrew Colton on NewsRadio 610 WIOD for the very latest. The morning news broadcast is also simulcast on 105.9HD2 and streams in the IHeart Radio App.

The announcement is expected to be made as part of an interview with Twitter owner Elon Musk. It was not immediately clear what time the announcement would be made, how long the Twitter “interview” would last, or if anyone else would be along. (UPDATE: The announcement will take place around 6 p.m. and will be audio-only on Twitter Spaces).

DeSantis, ironically, is known for his lack of people skills. Political observers expected a large, organized event would permit Florida’s ultra-conservative Governor to shed that reputation. Making an announcement on social media, however, seems to only amplify the point.

A video is expected to be released following the Governor’s announcement. It, too, will be released online. The announcement will coincide with a donor event in the Miami area. It was not immediately clear where DeSantis will start his campaigning — whether in South Florida or in one of the first states with primary voting.
