BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A West Boca Raton man allegedly attempted to flee Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Deputies with a warrant for his arrest on a domestic battery charge. Police won. He lost. Paul Kleinau remains in the Palm Beach County Jail Friday morning.
According to multiple arrest reports reviewed by BocaNewsNow.com, Kleinau engaged in some sort of domestic altercation with someone in his home in the 11400 block of Whisper Sound Drive in West Boca Raton. That led to a police response. No arrest was made at the time.
But the following day, police returned and documented this: “On June 7, 2023 at approximately 1140hrs, Deputies observed the defendant exit his driveway in a Blue 2020 Infinity QX60. The defendant drove out of his community and proceeded to the intersection of Woodchuok Dr. and Ponderosa Dr. (located in unincorporated Boca Raton FL). Just after the defendant arrived at the aforementioned intersection, I drove up behind the defendant’s vehicle, in my marked PBSO patrol vehicle bearing the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Insignia and jurisdictional markings which are prominently displayed on the outermost portion of the vehicle, and conducted a traffic stop.
After I activated my emergency lights and siren, the defendant immediately accelerated to a high rate of speed and began to drive his vehicle in a reckless manner with wanton disregard for the safety of persons, property and other vehicular traffic in the residential area. The defendant continued to drive recklessly and proceeded back to his home where an awaiting deputy observed him reverse his vehicle into his garage and then close the garage door refusing to make contact with deputies. Based on the aforementioned facts the defendant did commit a third degree felony FSS 316.1935(2). The incident was captured on BWC and in-car dash camera.”
Kleinau was eventually taken into custody. He is officially charged with flee/elude police, battery, simple assault, and resisting an officer without violence. He’s being held on $8,000 bond.
