BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The National Hurricane Center is watching two tropical waves Monday morning. The first, which rolled off the coast of Africa several days ago, is expected to become a tropical depression by Tuesday. The second, which developed overnight, may become a tropical depression within the next week.
We remind readers that the ovals you see above indicate where a system may develop, not necessarily a direction of travel. Tracking does not start until a wave becomes a depression. The following is the Monday morning update from the National Hurricane Center.
TROPICAL WAVE #1
Central Tropical Atlantic (AL92): Satellite images indicate that the area of low pressure located roughly midway between Africa and the Lesser Antilles has become better organized overnight and is close to becoming a tropical cyclone. If current trends continue, advisories could be initiated on a tropical depression later today. This system is forecast to move generally westward at 15 to 20 mph with further development across the central tropical Atlantic through the middle part of this week. Additional information on this system, including storm warnings, can be found in High Seas Forecasts issued by the National Weather Service.
