DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Delray Medical Center is suing a Lake Worth towing company for nearly $643,000 — the amount of money DMC claims the towing company owes when one of its employees was critically injured and taken to the hospital for treatment.
According to the suit, Joy Towing did not carry Worker’s Compensation as mandated by the State of Florida. Also according to the complaint, that means Joy Towing is on the hook for its employee’s medical bills.
While the injured employee’s name is not in the suit due to HIPAA rules and regulations, and while the specific injuries are also not listed due to the same regulations, medical codes reviewed by BocaNewsNow.com indicate that the Joy Towing employee was critically injured and needed emergency trauma-related surgery following an incident on March 15, 2022.
Among the fees Delray Medical Center is suing for: $122,000 for “emergency room services,” $150,000 for “surgical room supplies”, and $100,000 for “imaging, implantation, and testing.” The total bill: $642,900. Joy Towing had not filed a response to the suit as early Sunday morning, according to the Palm Beach County Clerk of Courts.
