BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Boca Raton resident Brandon Labiner is being held Sunday night on one count of premeditated murder Sunday evening after sources tell BocaNewsNow.com that he allegedly killed his father — Trust and Estates Attorney Paul Labiner — in Paul Labiner’s law office.
The Palm Beach County Jail confirms Sunday night that Brandon Labiner is being held on one count of premeditated murder. He was initially held on an “out of county warrant.” The homicide charge was filed late Sunday afternoon. A records check indicates that Labiner is the son of Trust and Estates Attorney Paul Labiner, whose business address is the same as the murder scene — 5499 North Federal Highway in Boca Raton. Paul Labiner’s biography was not appearing on the firm’s website Sunday. Paul Labiner was in the midst of a lawsuit against his son at the time of his apparent death. Boca Raton Police would not comment on the investigation Sunday and refused to provide the name of the deceased or the apparent suspect — another questionable use of “Marsy’s Law” by Boca Raton Police which routinely withholds victim and suspect information, even when it potentially involves the same family. Police said a statement would be released once the investigation is complete. A spokesperson was advised that BocaNewsNow.com would be reporting on Brandon Labiner’s arrest and was not dissuaded from doing so. Brandon Labiner’s booking photo, in a departure from Palm Beach County Jail norms, was not processed at the time he was processed into the jail.
According to sources with knowledge of the investigation, Brandon Labiner allegedly shot and killed his father, then engaged in a standoff with poilce. He was taken into custody in the 900 Block of North Federal Highway and hospitalized for a psychological evaluation. Whether an “out of county warrant” truly existed is unclear. An FDLE database did not reveal any outstanding warrants in Florida for Brandon Labiner.
