BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Lantana man is dead following a fatal crash on the Congress Avenue exit ramp from I-95 Southbound. The crash occurred around 10:26 Friday morning, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash involved only one vehicle, a 2006 Lincoln Town Car. The deceased is identified as a 56-year-old man. His next of kin is still being notified. The following narrative was provided by FHP. V1 is “vehicle 1,” the Lincoln Town Car.
V-1 was traveling south on southbound Interstate 95 (State Road 9) exit ramp to State Road 807 (Congress Avenue), upon the inside exit lane. For reasons still under investigation, D-1 (driver 1) failed to observe the right curve to exit onto access road to State Road 807 (Congress Avenue), continued in a southerly direction where V-1 collided with the raised curbed median separating eastbound/westbound lanes of the access road. Post-collision with curbed median, V-1 continued in a southerly direction where its front collided with concrete barrier wall along the outside shoulder of eastbound access road to northbound Interstate 95.
V-1 came to final rest with its front against the concrete barrier wall, facing southwest. D-1 suffered serious bodily injuries as a result of the traffic crash and was transported by Boca Raton Fire Rescue to the hospital. D-1 died at the hospital. This is still an ongoing investigation.
