BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The Friends of The Israel Defense Force (FIDF) is suing over the estate of a Boca Raton man who died in October of 2019. The IDF says the man — Barry Rubin — promised $9M to the organization. Instead, it claims a family member manipulated Rubin to rewrite his Designated Beneficiary Plan just eight days prior to his death — then raided the account.

The complaint, obtained by BocaNewsNow.com, claims that Barry Rubin had intended to donate the balance of his Charles Schwab account — valued at $9,099,788.61 at the time of his death — to the Friends of The Israel Defense Forces But according to the complaint, daughter Lainie Beth Roldan took advantage of her father who allegedly suffered from mental incapacity in the days before his death by having her named sole beneficiary, then took the money that the IDF believed was heading its way.

“On November 9, 2021, 13 days after the decedent’s death, Roldan transferred all of the assets in the Charles Schwab account to herself,” claims the suit.

“Lainie Roldan took Advantage of (her father’s) diminished capacity and unduly influenced and/or defrauded him to execute the Beneficiary Designation… at the time the defendant executed the Beneficiary Designation, he was under an insane delusion.”

Lawyers for the FIDF are attacking the daughter much like the IDF might attack an opponent — relentlessly and with full force. Wrote attorneys: “Roldan controlled the mind of the defendant by persuasion, pressure, duress, force or coercion … (she) is a well-known spendthrift.”
