UPDATE at 5 p.m. — Tropical Storm DON just became a hurricane. It poses no threat to land, but its regeneration is notable. It was something, then basically nothing, and now something again.
BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A tropical depression is expected to form southeast of Florida within the next several days. While it appears unlikely that the system will directly impact the Florida peninsula, it is too soon to know with any level certainty. We remind readers that the orange oval above indicates the general area where a system may form, NOT a direction a travel. Tracking only starts once a system actually forms.
The next named system for the Atlantic Hurricane Season will be Emily. Here is the official Saturday update from the National Hurricane Center which notably lowered the likelihood of a system developing over the next seven days from 70 percent Saturday morning to 60 percent Saturday afternoon.
