BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — An area country club’s on-site restaurant was ordered closed by the Florida Department of Business and Regulation following an inspection on August 17th. The restaurant was later allowed to reopen.
Inspectors say the Yacht Club Restaurant at 2425 Maya Palm Drive in Boca Raton had food and bug issues. An emergency order to close was issued. The issues were cleared the following day. Per BocaNewsNow.com policy, the following is the unedited entry logged by Florida DBPR:
High Priority – Live, small flying insects in kitchen, food preparation area, food storage area and/or bar area. Approximately 15 live small flying insects landing on mixer paddle and whisk hanging over the sushi station in the kitchen. Approximately 20 live flies landing on the walls in the sushi/pastry prep area in the kitchen.
Intermediate – Operator is doing a special process, conducting reduced oxygen packaging, cooking time/temperature control for safety food to a time and temperature combination lesser than those in the Food Code or operating a molluscan shellfish tank for human consumption without a HACCP plan approved by the Division of Hotels and Restaurants. In walk in cooler #1, ROP lamb chops labeled 8/9 and ham labeled 8/11. Items were removed from the packaging. **Corrected On-Site**
Yacht Club Restaurant was permitted to reopen on August 18, 2023. An unannounced follow-up inspection is planned.
