BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The COVID-19 positivity rate in Palm Beach County is rapidly returning to — and in some cases surpassing — the positivity rate reached during much of the pandemic. The Florida Department of Health reports that the Palm Beach County positivity rate for the week of August 25th through August 31st was a stunning 22.7-percent. That brings the running total — since the beginning of the pandemic — to 28.8-percent.
The total COVID death count — statewide — since the pandemic began is now 90,232. The number of people who died from COVID-19 in Florida between January 1st, 2022 and August 1st, 2023 is 25,117.
The Centers for Disease Control reports that 298 people have been admitted to Florida hospitals for COVID-19 during the most recently reported timeframe which is August 1st through August 19th. The latest data indicates a 9.4-percent increase in hospitalizations for COVID-19 in Florida from the previous reporting period.
The CDC reports a 17.6-percent increase in deaths nationwide from COVID over the most recently reported week from the week immediately before. Kinsa Healthweather, which tracks the spread of COVID and other illnesses, reports that Palm Beach County residents face a “moderate risk” for COVID.

Why do people think mask work. So tell me what happens when you board a plane and then remove the mask to have your snack or drink. Or when you enter a restaurant with a mask but remove it for your entire meal.

If you are sick and must go out, for example, to the doctor, than feel free to wear a mask as a courtesy to others, for whatever minimal benefit it might provide. But no reason healthy people need to mask, and in fact, they are likely doing themselves more harm than good by masking. You breathe in your own warm, moist CO2 when you mask, and are forced to exhale more deeply so any bacteria and germs that are on the mask are more likely to get pulled into your lungs. Do you know that most people who died in the 1918 flu epidemic didn’t die from the flu? They died from bacterial pneumonia, in large part due to the wearing of cloth masks that were dirty and germ infested.

I have worked in safety for many years and can tell you that only someone who is sick needs to wear a mask. And that is to protect everyone else. Wearing a mask does not protect you from getting the virus. It may protect you from giving it to someone if you are coughing and contagious. Unless you walk through a cough cloud that just happened, the virus is not airborn. The best way to protect yourself is to wash your hands often and thoroughly and not touch your eyes or mouth with your dirty hands. The biggest problem with mask mandates is that they only require people to just slap a piece of cloth over their face. They mandating entities do not require or provide actual safety masks. It must be at least a KN95 mask and it must be worn snuggly to your face. Unless this if enforced on everyone then it helps no one.
The paper masks that made in China and shipped over here by the billions ARE made with carcinogenic materials and can cause cancer in the long term use of these masks. These are facts put out by scientists and scientific research. You do realize that not all scientists come to the same conclusions don’t you. Just because a scientist does not provide you with an answer that you like does not discount his theory or make it a conspiracy. You they are all conspiracies until they become the truth.

I’m happy to wear a mask if it helps keep me, especially my mother, my employees, or anyone else from getting sick. It’s an easy and cheap way to lessen the odds. Covid is miserable. I don’t want to contribute to spreading it or making it worse.

I think masks should be a personal choice. I am traveling and plan to wear one on the plane and use the 10 foot plan when near people without a mask.

I am already wearing a mask when I am out in public places indoors, shopping or in a crowded area. I have a sister who has Cystic Fibrosis and I take care of her sometimes and I need to protect myself for her..as well as myself. Even though Covid cases are up, it is a very mild case when you get this strain. Having said that, masks are made to stop bacteria, not viruses. Viruses are way to small for a mask to be effective. Any medical reference material written before 2020 will tell you that.
Unless you are wearing a N95 mask (and wearing it correctly), there really is no supporting evidence that masking up will help. You are better off social distancing, not shaking hands and not kissing friends when you meet. -

Strongly believe in masks after My husband and I attended a family home 5 days in a row in July 2020 due to a death of family member. Many people were there each day. My husband and I were the only ones wearing masks each day ( that I made lined with polypropylene). Every person that attended came down with COVID 2 days later. My husband and I were the only ones who did not get COVID. That was enough proof for me to believe that masks work.

My booster shot has, according to my doctor, caused my immune system to attack my platelets and resulted in a dangerous situation of my platelets dropping to 17K range. Normal platelet levels are 150K to 400K. No more covid vaccine for me!

In regards to COVID we have been giving conflicting information. Many of us have received the vaccines & boosters & have worn mask & have come down with COVID. I have had it twice & the President had COVID a few times. I have not heard any explanation why this happened. Not sure what’s right or wrong.

I have had covid for a week and a half now out of the blue high fever up to 103 for 5 days now left with hacking cough and feeing very drained . Not quite as bad as the first time I had it a year ago but almost. Not sure a mask would have helped but I know of several others that have had it again recently so yea we are stuck with it as a yearly problem is my guess.

But no reason healthy people need to mask, and in fact, they are likely doing themselves more harm than good by masking. You breathe in your own warm, moist CO2 when you mask, and are forced to exhale more deeply so any bacteria and germs that are on the mask are more likely to get pulled into your lungs. Do you know that most people who died in the 1918 flu epidemic didn’t die from the flu? They died from bacterial pneumonia, in large part due to the wearing of cloth masks that were dirty and germ infested.
You statement is only correct if you are not wearing a mask correctly and are wearing an insufficient mask. A mask must fit tightly against the skin and the mask needs to be a respirator, KN 95 or a mask of equality.

Sam do you know Dee personally? If not then You have no idea whether or not they are a scientist or other expert in the field of safety or medicine. I have worked in safety for many years and can tell you that only someone who is sick needs to wear a mask. And that is to protect everyone else. Wearing a mask does not protect you from getting the virus. It may protect you from giving it to someone if you are coughing and contagious. Unless you walk through a cough cloud that just happened, the virus is not airborn. The best way to protect yourself is to wash your hands often and thoroughly and not touch your eyes or mouth with your dirty hands. The biggest problem with mask mandates is that they only require people to just slap a piece of cloth over their face. They mandating entities do not require or provide actual safety masks. It must be at least a KN95 mask and it must be worn snuggly to your face. Unless this if enforced on everyone then it helps no one.
The paper masks that made in China and shipped over here by the billions ARE made with carcinogenic materials and can cause cancer in the long term use of these masks. These are facts put out by scientists and scientific research. You do realize that not all scientists come to the same conclusions don’t you. I’m happy to wear a mask if it helps keep me, especially my mother, my employees, or anyone else from getting sick. It’s an easy and cheap way to lessen the odds. Covid is miserable. I don’t want to contribute to spreading it or making it worse.

I think masks should be a personal choice. I am traveling and plan to wear one on the plane and use the 10 foot plan when near people without a mask.

I am already wearing a mask when I am out in public places indoors, shopping or in a crowded area. I have a sister who has Cystic Fibrosis and I take care of her sometimes and I need to protect myself for her..as well as myself. I think people should do what they feel is right to protect themselves.

Even though Covid cases are up, it is a very mild case when you get this strain. Having said that, masks are made to stop bacteria, not viruses. Viruses are way to small for a mask to be effective. Any medical reference material written before 2020 will tell you that.
Unless you are wearing a N95 mask (and wearing it correctly), there really is no supporting evidence that masking up will help. You are better off social distancing, not shaking hands and not kissing friends when you meet.
I do not feel that we should get all hyper about Covid being found in numerous cases as it will be like the
Flu. Every year coming back with a different strain and we are offered Flu Vaccine. It is up to us and our doctor

Strongly believe in masks after My husband and I attended a family home 5 days in a row in July 2020 due to a death of family member. Many people were there each day. My husband and I were the only ones wearing masks each day ( that I made lined with polypropylene). Every person that attended came down with COVID 2 days later. My husband and I were the only ones who did not get COVID. That was enough proof for me to believe that masks work.

I will not be masking up! The masks are pretty much useless and may actually do more harm than any good. As far as future vaccines, I will not be getting any more covid vaccines (had 3). My booster shot has, according to my doctor, caused my immune system to attack my platelets and resulted in a dangerous situation of my platelets dropping to 17K range. Normal platelet levels are 150K to 400K. No more covid vaccine for me!

In regards to COVID we have been giving conflicting information. Many of us have received the vaccines & boosters & have worn mask & have come down with COVID. I have had it twice & the President had COVID a few times. I have not heard any explanation why this happened. Not sure what’s right or wrong.

People who got vaccinated were protected against severe illness and death…but not infection, so if they didn’t mask and threw caution to the wind, they got infected. It’s really that simple. I have had covid for a week and a half now out of the blue high fever up to 103 for 5 days now left with hacking cough and feeing very drained . Not quite as bad as the first time I had it a year ago but almost. Not sure a mask would have helped but I know of several others that have had it again recently so yea we are stuck with it as a yearly problem is my guess.
We need to all stay cam and not panic. Take precautions but don’t stop living.
