UPDATE: Sean is gone as of 8 a.m.
BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A low in the upper 50s is not deterring a tropical system that is trying to form east of Florida in the eastern Atlantic. While tropical storm Sean continues to dissipate, the currently unnamed system continues to head west. At this point, there’s no threat to Florida, which is enjoying much cooler weather than it has for months. This is the early update from the National Hurricane Center:
Tropical Weather Outlook NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL 200 AM EDT Mon Oct 16 2023
For the North Atlantic… Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:
Active Systems: The National Hurricane Center has issued the last advisory on Post-Tropical Cyclone Sean, located over the central tropical Atlantic.
1. Central Tropical Atlantic (AL94): A broad area of low pressure located over the central tropical Atlantic is producing disorganized shower activity. Although the environment may not support much development during the next couple of days, conditions are expected to become more conducive thereafter, and a tropical depression is still likely to form by late this week. This system is expected to move westward or west-northwestward across the central and western tropical Atlantic during the next several days.
* Formation chance through 48 hours…low…20 percent.
* Formation chance through 7 days…high…70 percent.
From the Tropical Outlook: For the forecast W of 55W, a cold front reaching from 31N71W to Ft. Lauderdale, FL will push southeastward until it stalls Tue from Bermuda to central Cuba, then dissipates through mid-week. Expect fresh to locally strong winds over waters north of 25N through Mon night, on both sides of the front. Winds and seas will diminish into mid-week as high pressure builds over the area in the wake of the front. Looking ahead, there is a high chance that a tropical depression will develop over the Atlantic by the end of the week, possibly bringing fresh to strong winds and rough seas to the waters northeast of the Leeward Islands by late week.
