The National Weather Service has extended several advisories for Palm Beach County.

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Heavy rain and strong wind are expected to continue at leas through mid-day Thursday in Palm Beach County, as the National Weather Service extended a series of watches and advisories that were set to expire. Broward County schools are closed Thursday, while Palm Beach County schools remain open.

From the National Weather Service as of 5 a.m. Thursday:

… FLOOD WATCH NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 PM EST THIS AFTERNOON…

* WHAT… Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.

* WHERE… A portion of southeast Florida, including the following areas, Coastal Broward County, Coastal Miami Dade County, Coastal Palm Beach County, Far South Miami-Dade County, Inland Miami-Dade County, Metro Broward County, Metro Palm Beach County and Metropolitan Miami Dade.

* WHEN… Until 1 PM EST this afternoon.

* IMPACTS… Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– Periods of moderate to locally heavy rain will continue through this morning. Additional rainfall amounts of 2-4 inches with locally higher amounts are possible. This rain when combined with already saturated soils may result in additional flooding, especially in urban and poor drainage locations.

* WHAT… East winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

* WHERE… Inland Palm Beach County, Metro Palm Beach County, Inland Broward County, Metro Broward County, Inland Miami-Dade County, Metropolitan Miami Dade and Far South Miami-Dade County.

* WHEN… Until 4 PM EST this afternoon.

* IMPACTS… Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects.
