BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A massive, raging fire decimated a home in La Lac overnight, burning the structure to its frame. (UPDATE: Fire is under control as of 5:05 a.m.)
Palm Beach County Fire Rescue responded to the scene at 6002 Le Lac Road around 2:20 a.m. after an alarm company reported fire alarm activation to Palm Beach County Fire Rescue. BocaNewsNow.com has learned that neighbors heard an explosion — and possibly multiple explosions — in the home.

Witnesses say the second floor of the home was fully engulfed as firefighters arrived. The home is listed by the Palm Beach County Property Appraiser as a 12,700 square foot house “under air” that was purchased in April of 2012 for $4.6M by Sarah Hassan.

BocaNewsNow.com has learned there was a 2000-gallon propane tank on the property — it was unclear if the tank was burning. At least 75-percent of the home was engulfed within the first 45 minutes of the fire. At least 25 Palm Beach County Fire Rescue and Delray Beach fire units responded to the scene which remains active as of 5 a.m. Nearly 60 firefighters are on the scene.

No resident was in the home at the time of the explosion. No cause for the blaze is known at this time. An investigation is underway.
