PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — An apparent traveler who isn’t so bright left a bag unattended at Palm Beach International Airport Friday Afternoon. The unattended bag led to an emergency situation — resulting in part of the airport being shut down while the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office investigated.

The airport was reopened around 2 p.m.

PBSO issued this statement to BocaNewsNow.com: “Shortly after 1:00 pm, PBSO K9 deputies patrolling the arrival area were alerted to an unattended bag.  PBSO EOD Unit was immediately called to check out the unattended bag.  The first level of the airport and the A & B screening areas on the 2nd level were shut down until PBSO EOD arrived and deemed the bag safe.”

It was not immediately clear if the bag was reconnected to its owner or if charges are pending. Bags are not to be separated — at all — from owners in an airport. Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International has sustained multiple closures this year due to unattended bags.
