It’s Boca Rudeton For Friday. It’s Also Another Reason Why Your Dog Shouldn’t Be In A Mall.

BY: STAFF REPORT | BocaNewsNow.com
BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — God love dog owners in Boca Raton. Not all of them. In fact, many are completely respectful people who you wouldn’t know own a dog unless you were in their home — because that’s where the dog, appropriately, lives. But that’s not the case for some. Including the woman in the photo, above.
Courtesy of one of our readers — who has nominated this woman for Boca Rudeton — the woman brought her dog to Boca Raton’s Town Center Mall. Because the dog is a dog and not a human who can go to the bathroom, the dog pooped in the mall. A place where people walk. A place where people shop. A place where people bring their kids. A place that isn’t designed to be a dog park.
We don’t understand why Simon Property Group (NYSE: SPG) isn’t effectively banning these self-absorbed dog owners from bringing their pets into a shopping mall that also features a food court with exposed food. But it seems Simon is so desperate for malls to remain relevant that they feel it’s okay if Prada is mixed with Pet Supermarket.
Lady with the dog pooping in the mall, you are our Boca Rudeton winner of the day. You win a reminder that your dog is a dog and not a child. It doesn’t need to be with you wherever you are. And certainly doesn’t need to be wearing what appears to be a fake vest that suggests some sort of training. Unless it’s trained to poop in a mall, we question what it does to officially help you through your day. We also want to honor Simon Property Group. Simon: it’s astonishing how you took what was once a classy shopping area and turned it into a place for pooch poop. Well done!
We remind our readers that there’s no expectation of privacy in a public place. Don’t want to be seen here? Don’t be rude here! Send your photos to us using the menu, above. Share your thoughts of this woman, below. Boca Rudeton™ is a trademark of MetroDesk Media, LLC. Shopper with dogs that poop in a mall is a trademark of Boca Raton.

Fake news! I was there, if you notice the lady had a bag in her right hand and picked up the poop. It isn’t a fake service vest, it was a red Chanel tshirt. It’s a shame the old lady doesn’t have anything better to do, except make up a fake story. Maybe she needs a dog!

There are so many parts of this response that deserve a response, but we won’t. Perhaps our readers will.

Maybe the news break app should get the facts straight stating she left the poop, when she had a bag in her hand and was bending down to pick it up, plus stating it was a fake service vest. Bad journalism! Don’t believe everything you read. If you don’t like dogs, that’s cool and if you don’t like dogs in stores, that’s cool too, just get the facts straight!
-
Cindy, do you truly not understand that you shouldn’t have a dog in the mall? That the issue isn’t whether the poop was picked up, but that there was poop in the first place? It’s a mall. Not a park. It’s a mall. Repeat this out loud: dogs don’t belong in mall. Dogs don’t belong in malls. Dogs are not children. They are animals. They do not belong in malls.

Cindy,
Nowhere does the article say she (the lady) left it behind. The headline says the dog left it behind. And if you can comprehend the intent of the article, the point is that the dog is just being a dog. It doesn’t know any better. But the lady should know better. Sadly, these people bringing their dogs everywhere don’t know better. -
My god…will you get over this campaign against dogs. There is so much wrong going on in this world and so many causes that could use highlighting…why this concentration on dogs. Not on cats, unruly children, adults that have no sense of decency or teens that run rampant through the stores and malls. There is gun violence, store theft, and unruly crowds…but hey, let’s take it out on the dogs.

Weeks ago same thing happen to me, dog pooped in mall and my kid almost stepped in it…not picked up by owner…its ridiculous …if someone’s shoes are 1000 pradas who is responsible…mall getting sued over shoes…or how about the person who slides in the poop and cracks their head open….animals should not be in mall unless contained in stroller…and I have 2 dogs so not a hater, just

Another faux service dog. The Mall should ban her for 5 years.

You don’t see nearly as many dogs in inappropriate places up north. I wonder if it is because the people who relocate to Florida are lonely. They are away from family and substitute their animals for human companions.
-
First, let me say the editors comments were hysterical. I’m still laughing.
Having said that, dogs don’t belong in the Boca
Town Center. I’ll be watching where I step the next time I’m there.

It is beyond rude to bring your pet to the mall, indoor restaurant, or anywhere inside besides their home.
I was a dog owner most of my life. I love dogs in the home or walking outside.
The public should not be subjected to their messes.
Plus young children who need to walk a little in the mall should not be walking into the remains of left over poop.its a great way for a child to get ring worm, bacteria infection, etc.
-
There is no poop for any child to walk in. Don’t be so dramatic & critical. I don’t see anything wrong with a pup in a mall. Tons of people bring their dogs all over the country. If my dog pooped, I wouldn’t bring him again, otherwise I would bring him again. I wouldn’t go near the food places though.

Barbara, get a life
-
Ben, she has a life so have no clue why you’re even saying that. Her point is spot on though, no dog needs to be in a shopping mall…period! When I had my pup, I would never have brought her there as it’s a place for people, not dogs! These folks sense of entitlement is off the charts and it needs to stop now!
So Ben, maybe you’re the one who needs to get a life here! Just sayin’!!! -
I agree with Ben, Barbara needs to get a life and Sam, you should just shop online!
-
I was there and saw a few dogs being walked with their owners, one was sitting in a chair, dog sitting on floor. What’s up with all this now???😂
She is an older woman, this is her companion, she didn’t walk away and leave it there, she cleaned it up! Hey, how many kids have accidents in malls, throw up, run around like crazy, are you going to post their pictures too! Hey, how about some who pee in their pants and it gets on the floor, that’s okay!

Stop deflecting, Bobbi. People like you are the reason our country is falling apart. I bet you make excuses for everything in life. Learn to follow rules like the rest of us.
Talking about bringing dogs at malls, restaurants, etc It’s like talking about politics or religion now a days. Everybody has their own opinions. One thing I noticed is the people that don’t agree with bringing dogs to this places get aggressive. I personally get more annoyed by kids screaming and running all over a restaurant than a dog sitting next to their owner minding their own business. Yes, I know the difference between a child and a dog. I have dogs and I never bring them to any of these places either. This kind of “news” are stupid, I think. Maybe whoever post this should be focusing on more important things.
I want to say this I have been a pet owner most of my life, whether it was a cat, dog, bird, snake, sheep, goat or any number of smaller animals that I have loved and taken care. Dogs or any other animal (unless a true service animal) do not belong in a mall or any food establishment or grocery store. Also doctors that issue these certificates falsely should be looked into. If you are that dependent on that dog or cat that you must have it with you then you have serious issues that you should get help. If your dog or cat cannot be content with out you then you either trained it wrong or you purchased the wrong breed. If you are bringing the pet to show off to all the others at the mall then please seek help as others do not care as you are shallow and egocentric.
Just another Example of False Reporting
The debate of dogs in public places will go on forever.
But to Make your Headline that ” Dog Leaves excrement behind “,is cheap way to get readers
Really Old Lady in mall CLEARLY Picking up after it.
In a Town that is Known Nation Wide to Have the most Self Absorbed ,Entitled ,Rude people, you choose this Lololol.
My advice to you and Boca News is Get out more or Get a New person to write the Articles
I love dogs. They do not belong in malls, restaurants, grocery stores, and a lot of other places. There are ads often on Facebook offering service dog designations for any kind of untrained dog. These should be taken down, and people should not respond to them anyway. This lady was picking up the poop, but I don’t know if she also carries cleaning spray or wipes to get the floor clean, and I kind of suspect not.
Great article!
I grew up having a pet in the house for years.
We never took our pets to the stores or restaurants with us. I personally don’t see the need to bring them along to shop or dine.
I realize that some people enjoy having their pet by their side in public. Many businesses actually encourage them to do so. I once was sitting at the bar in a Lauderdale-by-the-Sea restaurant, where the lady had her little dog occupying its own barstool. The bartender brought out a small bowl of water for the pooch to quench its thirst. Picture the dog; paws up on the bar, lapping at the bowl of water. It was a bit too much for me. I stopped patronizing that business. Certainly my own choice and my own opinion; restaurants should be a pet free zone.
***disclaimer-Service dogs are the exception.
Boca Sucks, Lets all leave.
Being old (80) and having a dog, I always find myself reading about this issue. As I was thinking about it I came upon Judy’s response and agreed with her. I realize this is not to be taken as an excuse but more of a possible explanation. When I was in NJ, depending on weather conditions, I always took my dog with me on errands. In NJ back then you could leave the dogs in the car but I do understand that issue has also changed. I always felt sorry for the dogs not getting out of the house. People who don’t have children treat their pets as children and I believe this is the root issue for this problem.
Town Center gave up enforcing a dog ban years ago. Now they leave water bowls out at the entrances. Even notwithstanding e-commerce and the pandemic, that have hurt malls although more luxury shopping centers tend to fair better, clientele has still declined considerably in the last ten years.
Rebecca Show me the rules that says no dogs in the mall. What planet are you from anyway? STOP with the “people like you”. Who do you think you are??
