BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Boca Raton woman self-identified as a salesperson for Kay’s Jewelers allegedly slammed into a car on Federal Highway while looking at her phone, then told police she didn’t have her phone with her.

According to the Boca Raton Police report obtained by BocaNewsNow.com, Shannon Ashe admitted to causing the crash.

“Shannon stated she was on the way home from her father’s home in Delray and had looked at her cellphone and then a collision occurred. Shanon stated she was driving for approximately 15-20 minutes. Shannon stated she took full responsibility for the collision and was very upset that someone was hurt due to the collision. I asked Shannon approximately what time it was and Shannon refused to answer the question and told me she didn’t know because she didn’t have her phone with her.”

Police say Shannon Ashe denied drinking any alcohol or being under the influence of any medication. However, the investigating officer said she failed field sobriety tests and “had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her person. She also appeared to have a difficult time with her balance while she was walking.”

Ashe, according to police, refused to provide a breath or blood sample for a test which leads to an automatic license suspension. She was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail and later released on her own recognizance. A court date is pending. Ashe, 39, lists Lancaster Street in Boca Raton as her residential address.
