BROWARD COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A person was struck and killed by a tri-rail train Thursday evening south of Boca Raton. The incident delayed northbound rail traffic on the tri-rail tracks for several hours.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office confirms multiple reports received by BocaNewsNow.com in the minutes after the incident. The agency issued this statement:
“Shortly before 7 p.m., Broward Regional Communications received a train versus pedestrian crash call near the 1500 block of Hammondville Road in Pompano Beach. Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies responded and located a pedestrian that was struck by a train.
Pompano Beach Fire Rescue also responded, and the pedestrian was pronounced deceased on scene. Detectives with BSO’s Crime Scene and Homicide units were notified and are investigating the circumstances surrounding this fatal incident. The investigation continues.”
