Our Reporting Leads Another Food Market To Ban Dogs, In Compliance With Florida Law.
READ THE JOSEPH’S SIGN BANNING PETS…

BY: STAFF REPORT | BocaNewsNow.com
DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Add Joseph’s Classic Market to the growing list of markets now complying with federal and state law by banning shoppers from bringing pets into their stores. Joseph’s has locations in Delray Beach and Boca Raton.
BocaNewsNow.com has been reporting for years on the selfish shoppers who bring dogs into food markets across South Florida. With the exception of legitimately trained service animals that provide a legitimate function — such as a dog that helps the visually impaired — animals are not allowed in stores that sell food. Emotional Support Animals are not service animals. Their legitimacy is a figment of the imagination of anyone who needs to bring their animal everywhere. Our reporting led to these animals being banned at Publix. Now Joseph’s is banning them as well.

The problem across South Florida, and specifically South Palm Beach County, is significant. BocaNewsNow.com receives photos daily of shoppers bringing dogs into places where they do not belong. These dogs sometimes leave excrement behind. While legitimate service animals should be welcome anywhere, pets are not. That’s the problem. Shoppers in Boca Raton and Delray Beach routinely lie to stores — and to themselves — about the purpose of their pet.
As Joseph’s new sign indicates, “misrepresenting your pet as a service animal negatively impacts the quality of life and independence for service animal users. Under Florida law, it is illegal to misrepresent your pet as a service animal.”
If you see non-service animals in Joseph’s, Publix, or other food stores across South Florida, send us photos using the menu buttons, above. Share your thoughts on the new Joseph’s ban, below.

Keep up the great work, everyone!

We must stop the dogs where they belong, not in places that have food, it’s disgusting and selfish!
-
If I were a blind man, that woman looks exactly like the kind of person I imagine would bring their “emotional support fur baby” where prohibited. The question is, will this reaffirmation of laws already on the books with lax enforcement, actually be enforced? In some Publix locations, that clearly is still not the case.

The Delray Publix on Atlantic between Barrick and Military still allow dogs. I see them all the time and tell the dog owners that they are not allowed. I have been told by the owners “there isn’t anything they can do about it” or “it’s a service dog” while their dog is trying to get pets from shoppers. A service dog would never seek the attention of anyone.

But you only publish what you want. I sent in a picture months ago which never got posted so why would I bother again?

I did as well…these are not journalists..more like Gestapo in brown shirts.
Frankly I see dogs everywhere and it does not bother me. -
Me too! I sent in a picture this week regarding another Publix dog…no reply. I guess it wasn’t the right location for them…
-
You need attention, don’t you?

I love dogs but they definitely do not belong where there is food sold.

Getting Publix, Joseph’s, and others to put up signs is a good start. Kudos to Boca News! But, now, please “finish the job”:
Since restaurant and grocery store employees are only allowed by law to ask whether a dog is a “service animal” and what service he performs, help them figure out how to determine whether people are misrepresenting their pets and emotional support dogs as service animals.

The manager at Target told us that Target welcomes dogs, just not in shopping carts. That’s Target for you!! Disgusting!!
-
Do we now need to not only boycott Target, but also barrage corporate HQ in Minneapolis, local police and food safety regulators and highlight Store Managers (b4 calling local police for enforcement) about the illegality (and frankly inconsideration) of perceived “privileged” dog owners bringing their pets (including those they refer to as “comfort” animals, into all Target stores, since they sell food products….
A chargeable misdemeanor for bringing any non-authentic and trained Service animal.. is it worth it? Repeat offenses are chargeable with up to 6 months’ jail plus possible 6 months community service (animal related).
Pls consider not only those disabled with the safety of REAL trained and Uber expensive Service animals but those shoppers with severe dog allergies, asthma, the immune-compromised, those fearful of bite/attacks and those of us totally grossed out by your dogs smelling and licking our foods we planned to buy. Most of the rest of us love our pets but train and leave them home without traveling everywhere, where they are safe, comfortable and legal without excuses about car temperatures. Leave them home, bring another person to watch the dog home/outdoors or order food for curbside/parkinglot pickup. Store personnel, including managers, are fed up cleaning up after your dogs in store, as well, whether it be your own dog or those “other” illegal dogs.
Bring your beloved pet to the dog park or Petsmart, where they will not only love it, are welcome, but are legally allowed to be there. Maybe pet-parents bringing their pets into venues illegally should face larger fines and prison on first offense since the owners in FL know the laws and either don’t train their dogs to avoid pet-anxiety or just bring them anyway.

Went with another couple to Carrabba’s on SW. 18th St. in Boca Raton. This was for their weekly Valentine special dinner. It was delicious and worth the price, however, in the middle of a meal, three people walk in with the man holding a little Pekingese dog, sat behind me. I’m very allergic to dog, as I’m talking right now, my eyes are still watering an itching. , as I’m talking right now, my eyes are still watering and itching. we called the manager over turned out. He was the manager for the night. He asked three people to please change their table I took them away from us. When the four of us asked how this is allowed in a restaurant, we were told that the manager who wasn’t on allows dogs. Personally, I find it kind of not like the policy of Carrabas because we’ve been going there for years and have never seen a dog. If I had my phone at that time, I would’ve taken the picture and I would be able to take this further. It’s disgusting animals don’t belong in restaurants.

so you don’t review the truth and actual facts? My review has to be screened?? Check with Carabbas on 18th Street Boca Raton. I’m calling health department tomorrow and premier phone. Complaint I have been sneezing my eyes are itching and watering. I generally don’t feel well. This was supposed to be a pre-Valentine dinner with my friends, and everything was just perfect The man came in with the dog.

I was in Finnegan’s last Tues it was packed. Dog under the table stood up and shook its self off dander flying every where! So not right, dogs do not belong in restaurants and grocery stores! Love dogs but not in restaurants or grocery stores! Just sayin!!

Most people don’t care.
I don’t care. Bring your animals and be respectful.
Most people whine about something, the food or service.
Especially in south Florida!-
It’s not whining… it’s for the health and safety of the community at large. The law only applies to places that sell or serve food. Take your dogs in clothing stores, I don’t care, I love animals… but don’t bring them around my food.
-
Babies have as many or more germs than dogs that they slather all over grocery carts so you old buggers, quit your unjustified whining and get a life. Many of us have emotional support dogs for things such as Colitis, IBS, etc., which is a bonafide but invisible disability and an emotional support dog does do wonders for people like us. Did you know the act of petting a dog for a period of time lowers blood pressure? Of course not because so many here are ignorant and just want to bitch. My dog has never urinated nor defecated in public and I keep her in a stroller so she doesn’t bother anyone; in fact people love seeing her, no matter where. In fact, I’ve never seen a dog defecate or urinate in a store!
I’ve never seen such pathetic comments from people, mostly the editor/publisher of this stupid rag, who knows nothing about the benefits of having a dog. Get a life all of you!
You folks who haven’t got a clue, start complaining about babies dribbling their snot all over my grocery cart. SMH. Flori-duh is so apropos for you readers and Andrew Colton, who has nothing better to do with his pathetic (imho) life.
Get a life wretched people. Dogs are far better than most of you; especially you Andrew Colton.

Follow the law. It’s just that simple.

When I was in The Fresh Market today on Military Trail in Boca, a woman was holding her little white fluffy dog inches from the meat counter. I thought of taking a photo & sending it in, but I felt embarrassed to do so.
Now that I think about, I wasn’t the one to feel embarrassed.
My bad.
Canadian man brings his fake service dog into Greenacres Bowling alley. The dog wears a vest that says service dog. The dog needs him more than he needs the dog. Every time the man gets up to bowl, the dog starts to shake. What can be done to stop this obvious scam?
Figures boca rudeton probably a northeast bagel nasty people
I saw a dog, without any indication as to it being a service animal, in Whole Foods in Delray Beach. I asked the cashier if that was ok and she said Whole Foods is dog-friendly. I love animals, but there is a reason it is limited to legitimate services animals in grocery stores and restaurants… the health and safety of all. Some people are allergic to dogs, others are terrified of them, and dogs tend to pick up worms… do we really want that in a store that no one can avoid since eating is a necessity??
