BROWARD COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A North Broward County woman is facing a first-degree murder charge after police say she killed a man Tuesday night. Patrice George, 39, is now being held without bond in the Broward County Jail.

“At approximately 12:48 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 13, BSO deputies responded to a ShotSpotter alert near Northwest 27th Avenue and Northwest Seventh Street. When deputies arrived, they found shooting victim Derrick Givings in front of the residence located at 2695 N.W. Seventh St. Pompano Beach Fire Rescue immediately transported Givings to Broward Health North. Deputies on scene made contact with Patrice George who resides at 2695 N.W. Seventh St.
A short time later, Givings was pronounced deceased at the hospital. Detectives say the preliminary investigation revealed George shot Givings.
BSO Crime Scene and Homicide detectives responded to investigate.
During the on-scene investigation, George was immediately detained. Following questioning by detectives, a warrant for her arrest was obtained, and she was formally taken into custody and transported to BSO Main Jail. She faces one count of first-degree murder with a firearm.”
