American Airlines Permits Bull Shitzu On Plane To West Palm Beach, Violating Policy

Dog on plane

Dog Has Vest That Says “Service Dog.” We Call “Bull Shitzu!”

%%
Dogs on airplanes, dogs in Publix, dogs in a bowling alley. Welcome to Boca Rudeton for Sunday.

BY: STAFF REPORT | BocaNewsNow.com

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — An American Airlines crew inexplicably permitted a dog that must be a “Bull Shitzu” (purposely spelled) on flight 2467 Saturday night from DFW to West Palm Beach, disregarding the airline’s own policies. The dog, wearing a “service dog” vest, was almost assuredly not a service dog. It’s unclear what function the rat-looking K9 would perform if its owner suffered a problem. It’s one of multiple nominations for our Boca Rudeton award for Sunday.

%%
Do we really believe that this animal on American Airlines flight 2467 Saturday night from DFW to PBI is a service dog? If so, what service is it trained to provide?

American Airlines requires onboard pets to be in a kennel the entire time they’re on a flight. They must be approved by the airline, and confirmed at the boarding gate. None of this appeared to have happened. A legitimate service dog was on the plane. The seemingly fake service dog undermines the legitimacy of those who truly have a need and follow rules and restrictions.

%%
Why is this dog at Bowlero, a bowling alley where food is served?

Also up for Boca Rudeton consideration: a woman with a dog at Bowlero in Boca Raton. Food is served at the bowling alley, making this pooch a Florida law violator.

%%
Publix bans dogs, even dogs that have what appear to be an Amazon-purchased “service collar.” What service do we believe this dog was trained to perform?

We also received photos of people with dogs at Publix — despite the company’s all-out ban on pets. It was not immediately clear why this woman wasn’t escorted from the South Florida Publix location.

Of all the images, however, only one can be our Boca Rudeton winner for Sunday. That winner is the dog on the American Airlines flight. If we gave prizes, the young woman with the dog with what seems to be a fake “service dog” vest gets it. An American Airlines coloring book, designed specially for kids who aren’t old enough to comprehend rules and regulations.

We remind our readers that there is no expectation of privacy in a public place. Don’t want to be seen here? Don’t be rude here! Send your submissions to us using the menu buttons above. Share your thoughts about all of today’s nominees in our comment section, below. Boca Rudeton™ is a trademark of MetroDesk Media, LLC. Selfish pet owners are a trademark of South Palm Beach County.

    1. This posting is rude and another effort to shame all of those with service animals. Never knew Bocatons were such rude tons for their condemnation of animals that they have no clue whether they are service animals or not.

      1. Agreed.
An ignorantly written purely inflammatory piece that contains no real information. Or news. In fact. It inaccurately quotes the AA on board service animal policy as well as insinuates that AA as well as others can simply violate federal law and demand to know what someone’s disability is.
I’d MUCH rather be seated next to the Shitzu….or a GSD or am English Mastiff for that matter, than some of the nasty people flying nowadays.

  1. Not everyone has aparent disabilities that require a large dog. People with bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, PTSD, and epilepsy don’t need a giant dog in order to treat their illness. This view of yours is a huge problem to those that have disabilities that aren’t apparent. Additionally, a service animal doesn’t have to be providing service 24 hours a day. Some things that service animals provide only occur occasionally or in the mornings and at night. That doesn’t mean that person shouldn’t get the legal protections that come along with the service animal. When it comes down to it, unless you’re that person’s doctor, the legitimacy of someone service animal is none of your business, unless you happen to be that person’s health care provider. Having a disability is hard enough without having people, with no expertise in the healthcare space, that think that they are the gatekeepers of what should and should not be a service animal.

    1. JR, thankfully you are a voice of reason in this otherwise distasteful piece. I am not sure why in this country, dogs are considered to be so offensive in a public or private space. The only conclusion I come to is usually fear, ignorance or perhaps allergies. As long as they are well trained and behaved there is rarely an issue. Honestly, I have encountered more humans (children and adults) behaving poorly in these spaces.

      1. JR & Adam : You are both self-centered, selfish MAGA Morons. Dogs are ILLEGAL in establishments that serve food ! No one wants dirty, disgusting pet dogs to shed their hair on fresh produce, or poop and piss on the floors WE walk on. And god forbid if you, your family members, or young son or daughter are allergic to dogs, as hundreds of thousands of Americans are ! KEEP YOUR DAMN DIRTY PET DOGS AT HOME WHERE THEY BELONG !! Or better yet, adopt a cat today.

      2. You must be one of those with a fake vest violating health policies with animals and food stuffs and the like . Just because you live in Boca and have a few dollars doesn’t give you the right not to leave your ankle biter at home . Nobody is shaming anyone here ,just calling out rude dog owners trying to scam because of a sense of entitlement

      1. America, perhaps the world, seems to have devolved with respect to public comportment. This is an embarrassment to us all.
I’m up the road in WPB. To maybe a lesser extent I see this behavior too.
These people with fake service dogs ought to have sense to be embarrassed for themselves.
I have even seen them shopping with their human friends AND emotional support” dogs.
Well, um, you have human companions there with you so what the freak? Are you still so emotionally discomforted, you need to rely on a five-pound dog ?
You can always bring your blankie
        ,and you won’t look worse.
I love dogs, but there are reasons for leaving them home when we’re in most, enclosed, public establishments.
It just seems very MAGA to consider that people around you can just deal.
Just know most of us are thinking versions of this about you.

    2. I might take this crap more seriously if they had done some actual fact checking now they just threw this crap out here without even thinking maybe she suffers from PTSD which would make this a legitimate service animal but no they didn’t do any fact checking other crap not news should be shut down permanently

    3. Here, here!
I am also a person with a disability that is not visible. My dog is small because his training is not one that requires a large strong dog. Only one with good training. He is quiet and attentive only to me on flights. The judgey looks get old. But it’s no one’s business and no, I do not need to tell you about my illness or his service abilities.

    4. I feel the issue is about honesty. All of the lying and scamming people who misrepresent their dogs are hurting the unfortunate people who are really in need of a service or emotional animal. Watch out for Karma.

    5. Thank you for your kind response. You would think these arrogant people would educate themselves about service dogs before making accusations. Their time might be better spent volunteering for a worthy cause .

    6. You are Absolutely Right. And I would Sue every one of them. I have a ShiTzu that is A Service Dog and she has helped me and my Doctors out with my Disability. She has saved my life countless times. This is a HIPPA And an ADA issue not the general publics. They sound like Bullies to me.

    7. You are right on! I have Toy Poodle that is a service dog that helps with my PTSD and anxiety. She can sense a change in my breathing. Because she is small I can put her in a sling & when she senses a change in my breathing, she will reach her head up & will force me to focus on her. If I spiral too much & don’t respond, then she will bark at me a couple of times to help break through the wall of haze.

So like you said, people can’t really tell she is a service dog because I carry her & I don’t have PTSD & anxiety 24/7. The person who wrote this article and those who support it need to go back to school & learn that discrimination comes in many forms.

    8. Under the Americans with Disabilities Act gives businesses and other places required to allow service dogs the right to ask 3 questions that will help them determine whether the dog is a true service dog that is given the rights under the ADA. Too many places will not ask those questions and therefore allow non service dogs to enter places that they are not allowed to be. It then puts people with service dogs in danger because the non service animals can start fights and do other things that distract the service animals from doing there job. It also often puts dirty animals that can carry fleas and other parasites into our grocery stores and other places that they shouldn’t be. I would never want to be on a plane with a stinky dirty dog. Our dogs are always clean when they travel with us and we only stay in hotels that allow pets. We never take them where they aren’t allowed.

  2. 100% correct…. A service dog is not even required to have a vest or sign, that is 100% up to the handler. It can be any breed of dog… PSD (psychiatrist service dogs) dogs help a person that may not have physical disabilities but rather other psychiatrist issues like OCD…etc. so staying a service dog is not a service dog by looking at the owner is a bias conception.

    1. A true service animal will have its special training certification attached to its service vest. The dogs that were shone did not have the required certificate anywhere on their bodies. Therefor they don’t belong in any facility that serves food.

      1. Please go do some research about requirements regarding service dogs so you can stop spreading lies that others will believe. By research I mean go read the actual federal laws regarding service dogs.

There is no registration for service dogs or required certificate. Service dogs do not have to be professionally trained they can be trained by anyone to perform the service/services required. They do not need to be a specific breed of dog either. Service dogs provide all types of service for people who do not have obvious disabilities. A service dog can help diabetics detect low and high blood sugar. Can you look at someone and know they are a diabetic. A service dog can help detect when a seizure is coming on or a panic attack. Can you see these disabilities in people just by looking at them?

The government doesn’t have strict requirements regarding service dogs because it would put an unfair burden on people with a disability. They only require that the service animal provides a service for a person with a disability. An establishment can only ask if it is a service animal and what service does it provide and that is it.

This article is extremely rude in making an assumption that the dog on the plane isn’t a service dog. It is also rude in the statement about buying the vest on Amazon. True service dogs are not required by the government to wear anything identifying them as service dogs. However, if someone did want to put a vest on their true service dog there is nothing wrong with them purchasing a vest from Amazon. Just because the dog is wearing a service vest purchased off of Amazon doesn’t make them any less of a service dog.

Do people take advantage and lie about their dogs? Sadly the answer is yes.

Online companies that sell registrations for service dogs are just companies scamming people out of their money.

There is also a difference between a service dog and an emotional support dog. Places can refuse emotionally support.

  3. There is so many important things going on in this world, shootings, cops being killed, firemen dying, war, murder by Putin, yet you waste your time on little things that mean nothing! For a reporter, why the heck don’t you look at the bigger picture and stop wasting our time on this crap which will never stop! If you claim you’re a reporter, act like one, report the REAL news!!

    1. Barb – Ignoring the “little things” is why LA is a cesspool today, and why NYC was a cesspool in the 1980s.
When (now traitor) Rudy Giuliani was elected mayor of NYC, his ENTIRE FOCUS to get the city “back on track” was to focus his police department on stopping “THE LITTLE THINGS” like street windshield washers, subway fare beaters, loud music, drinking on the street, jaywalking, illegal parking, etc. which led to the fastest turnaround of the quality of life in America’s biggest city in RECORD time. The downfall of Publix’s, Joseph’s Classic Market and other pet dog offenders was first started when they took their eyes off the ball and ignored “the little things”. #BoycottBowlero #BoycottPublix

      1. Well the little things!!! all of us break the law every single day of our lives when we step into our car and speed. Which actually has a huge effect on another humans life. So should we be posting pictures of all of us then for breaking the law? It’s a small little law with big consequences life consequences am I right or wrong? I’d love to see what all these dog haters look like I bet there are some real beauties out there I could only imagine what you guys look like lmao

  4. I really don’t understand the dog on the plane I know in order to fly on JetBlue and several others. The Animal now has to have a travelers number where they use a third-party company called open door to vet the Animal they check with the trainer and the Animal itself to see if it is capable of being a service animal I know a Shih Tzu cannot. It is not a breed that is trainable For any type of service dog service absolutely could be an emotional support dog is my understanding that each airline may allow a support animal on board at its discretion but it’s not mandatory where is a service animal is mandatory, but is required to vet if she filled out the TSA paperwork and they find out that it’s not a service animal. She’s committed a federal crime and can be prosecuted even after the flight for filling out that paperwork, good luck. I hope somebody complains enough that they hit her with the $5000 fine and ban her from flying ever again not just with the dog.

  5. First let me thank JR for his reply, very well said and is true. I know this because I am a senior that lives in West Palm Beach for almost 30 years. I am not well, have a lot on my plate and had a son that was murdered horrifically here. I do not need a dog, a service dog PSD to perform service in that way. My ESA dog, legal ESA dog, her Service is to Support the Comfort and Emotional Trauma of my MIND. Which nowadays is very very important. She gives me the comfort and stability and support and confidence that I need in this state of condition I am in. She gives me the confidence to walk into a store whether it be to get medication or food that I am safe to do so. Not only to mention she spreads the love, she spreads the joy which is very well needed now in the world we live in today. She brings comfort to others and a smile on their face to make their day as well as mine. If you don’t feel the same then I’m sorry for you.
I hope you never have to succumb to a Support ESA Dog. And for those people who put a FAKE vest or collar on their dog, shame on you. Not to mention you ruining it for people like us, like me, who gets told no dogs allowed when I’m going into Publix to pay an FP&l bill. I’m not there to shop, I’m there to pay a bill. What hatred even if I was to go in there and shop who are you to tell me no. Or to take a plane somewhere to see a family member and we’re told no ESA dogs allowed, it’s bad enough we have to fly in fear now you’re going to tell me I have to keep my little 10 lb dog and a bag under my seat or take a different airlines or better yet Drive your own car and go in peace. Our dogs are very well behaved and very clean, my dog- her job is to Support MY MIND, My Heart and My Soul and if you don’t like it turn the other way. We are All human and need support in one way or another……..
God be with us all 🙏🏻🐕‍🦺🕯️🤗

    1. There are MILLIONS of Americans who suffer from PTSD and depression who do NOT have a dog to help them cope.
Happy that you do. However, having a dog brings *responsibilities* – And one of them is to OBEY OUR STATE and FEDERAL LAWS by not bringing your dirty dog into establishments that sell any type of food… (Unless you are a radical law-breaking CRIMINAL..)

  6. To the other comments that I’m reading here number one only a half a dozen breeds can be a service dog none of which are the “” non-shedding ones and yes, a service animal must be identified with a vest or some other readily visible notification that it is one and it’s working so it must do something for the person who has it I could outline the half dozen things that the dog could do and I could outline the half dozen breeds that could do it, but that would be helping people sneak them aboard, because they never know the answers I have a service animal it is small is one of the accepted breeds that does one of the few things that a dog can do as the person that says that it’s such a minor thing there’s so many other things going on have they ever heard of the ant theory let me explain it very briefly if you allow people to run stop signs even though it’s against the law next time they speed it’s against the law next time maybe they rob a bank after all that’s against the law too if you stop them at the very minor infraction perhaps they don’t move on the person would be illegal dog on the airplane or in the grocery store is not committing a bank robbery but they’re saying to other people it’s OK to break the law look at that person they’re doing it and it’s OK so why can’t I maybe I’ll shoot you because that’s against the law too but it’s OK you’re not gonna do anything to me for

    1. Alex.. Funny how you hide the details of your dog, like its breed and what exact services it performs, considering how long-winded your comments and replies are. What are you hiding, Slim Shady ?

  7. By now we all know this news organization has a serious issues with dogs in public. We get it. For your own health and for the betterment of the community you should relax just a bit. Yes, people take dogs when I’m sure the dog would rather have been left at home, but they’re dogs. How about you focus on something just a weee bit ruder (it is PBC so you won’t have to work to find rudeness) and give the damn dogs a break for a week or two.

    1. Harry.. Love how “Law & Order” Republicans are actually rule-breaking criminals at heart, who only obey the laws thry want to obey. Will bet the farm that 75% + of BocaNewsNow readers would agree that law-breaking criminals bringing pet dogs into food establishments should be arrested and/or their dog confiscated after a initial warning. 🙏🏻 👍🏼

  8. A service animal, can be a dog or a miniature pony (for stability), provides an individual with a disability with a specific medical benefit, sometimes apparent, sometimes not, as in the case of someone with PTSD. You may not ask what the individual’s disability is, but you can ask what service does the service animal provide. There are no restrictions on the breed or the size of the dog. A service animal is not a pet, unlike emotional support dogs which are considered pets. It is unfortunate that many dog owners represent their pet as a service dog, perhaps someday in doing so they may actually be in the need of a service dog. Be careful. The universe has a strange way in getting even with those who abuse this benefit.

    1. MrClever – Why ? Because unlike the rare and random violent crime or robbery that occurs in Boca, seeing and smelling dirty, disgusting dogs in a supermarket or restaurant is something EVERY ONE of us has unfortunately been exposed to.

      1. Dirty dog comments are annoying and of no relevance. Covid studies proved beyond a doubt just how badly humans spread their bodily functions in stores. By the way. Employees have cleaned up everything from vomit to diaper drippings in the aisles. How many people use the hand sanitizers upon entering the stores? Well those hands that don’t are all over your produce and grocery items, etc
I have yet to see dogs standing on their rear legs examining cucumbers. If you are allergic. The majority of Americans own pets. Which means they carry the dander your are allergic to everywhere. You are already exposed in stores. And no I don’t take my dog into stores. I do wish the dirty dogs who park in grocery pick up parking spots too lazy to walk were as concerned about rules

  9. I don’t have a dog
    But what the
    Problem most dogs are nicer
    Then this nasty people
Dogs give love and emotional support to their owners
    Start being nice
It will come back @ you

    1. Manny – Great advice ! When going to buy food, start by “being nice”, then be sure to obey local, state and federal laws and leave your damn dirty dog at home ! 👍🏼

  10. I now know why Earth is considered the “Insane Asylum” of the universe. Extraterrestrial Aliens will never show up here until the human race stops devolving and sanity returns.
My support dog just passed away after an operation gone wrong. I need her now more than I need psychiatrists, antidepressants or anything else. Nothing and no one can take her place.
But she is gone. The world has become a darker and sadder place. There are no replacements for this type of loss.
Please, please, please stop this argument. I stopped reading with tears running down my face.
Before you condemn emotional support animals because of the way the rules are evaded by so many selfish yahoos, give them the benefit of the doubt.
They need and deserve that. One day, you might have to walk in their shoes, on their path, filled with angst and internal pain.
    One day……..

  11. My service dog is only a little larger than this one. I hope NONE of you ever have a mental issue such as PTSD, which unfortunately I do have. I hope none of you closed minded people ever need a service dog, because believe me you would think differently.Size does not make a service dog, function does. If

    1. Renee.. Most people love cats and dogs. They just HATE DOGS IN SUPERMARKETS and RESTAURANTS !
The fastest way to make people hate dogs is being a SELISH CRIMINAL by BREAKING THE LAW against dogs in food establishments. Leave your dogs at home when going food shopping or to a restaurant – Or just use uBerEats 👍🏼

  12. Sounds like there’s a lot of hate for dogs and people who chose to take their pets with them when they travel or go out. I understand it’s not sanitary to have in restaurants and should not be allowed…shame on those establishment. Why are people so quick to blame MAGA for this? Are Republicans the only dog owners?? Go back and check what MAGA stands for and maybe you should start thinking of MAKING AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!! I really don’t understand why there’s so much hate in believing that or standing up for it. If you’re not a believer of it, maybe America is not a place where you should be. It’s very sad to read all the petty reports like this when our country has so much going on that should be shared. This is not a Republican or Democratic issue so people need to stop pointing fingers. Wake up and see what’s happening around the country we love. Stop being hateful and find peace in your lives.

    1. Most MAGA Morons (from the results of several studies at this point) tend to be selfish, uneducated, illiterate, broke and entitled racist jerks who would rather elect an idiot orange-skinned dictator than live in a true democracy.

They also tend to love Adolf Hitler, support neo-Nazis and J6 insurrectionists, want the #ChristianTaliban to rule America, and secretly yearn for the end of the world and the “second coming” of their pathetic, evil deity. #LockThemUp #Losers

      1. Gee, it’s like 2017 to early 2020 was conveniently “deprogrammed” from your memory… when none of that was happening; rather the economy was stable and stock market broke record after record, foodstuffs, gas, and other essentials didn’t cost an arm and a leg, stores were open, no “new normal,” no wars, the border was secure, and communities outside of your gated subdivision guarded by armed rent-a-cops were safe and clean.

  13. The obnoxious, spineless, bully reporter who created this site is the RUDEST of them all. Calling someone’s dog a rat. Really. YOU are a rat and a mean spirited cruel person who bullies senior citizens by SHAMING THEM simply for loving dogs. PTSD is a silent condition. Cancer, mental illness and other disorders are not visible. Sometimes holding a small animal helps reduce the symptoms of these conditions. What gives YOU the fright to judge? You sound like a mean spirited, cruel, soulless know it all. If you had any courage, you would show your face and not remain anonymous.

    1. Michelle : You sound just like a just like a criminal law-breaking, selfish, self-centered, entitled MAGA JERK we have all grown to loathe and hate. Obey the laws and everything will be good. These law-breaking dog owner idiots do NOT have a service dog, and they are abusing the privilege and making life very hard on people who actually DO require an authentic service dog to function in society. Scumbags that pass off their dirty dogs off as service dogs should be sent to prison !

  14. I agree that dogs shouldn’t be around the food in super markets, but service dogs are an exception. Losing your mind over something this trivial seems like life must be going pretty well for you if this is what you choose to complain about.

Dave, you sound like an unhinged liberal. Not everyone you disagree with is a “MaGa MoRoN”, but your strange obsession and name calling certainly doesn’t do your political teams stereotypes’ any favors. Best of luck in life, try not to give yourself a heart attack if Trump wins the primaries.

  15. Small dogs are also able to do task, they may be unable to guide someone, but they can definitely alert someone before a seizure or when their sugar is too low. Additionally, service dogs are also able to provide mental health support. Size has nothing to do with spotting a fake service animal and you’re doing harm to those with disabilities by making such a statement. Keep this mentally up and you might end up getting someone killed because of your meddling with their “fake” service animal

  16. Small dogs CAN actually be service dogs for people with anxiety! The dogs can be trained to lick the owners hand to calm them. The fact some people actually are trying to connect service dogs and their “people” with Trump on some of these posts shows THEIR actual ignorance!
