The Broward Sheriff’s Office provided this narrative to BocaNewsNow.com:

The Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating a crash that killed a pedestrian in Deerfield Beach in late February.

Shortly before midnight on Saturday, Feb. 24, Broward County Regional Communications received reports of a traffic crash involving multiple vehicles and a pedestrian in the 3800 block of West Hillsboro Boulevard. BSO Deerfield Beach District deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded. On scene, deputies located an adult female who had been struck by a vehicle. Paramedics took the woman to Broward Health Medical Center for treatment. BSO’s traffic homicide detectives responded to conduct an investigation.

According to detectives, BSO deputies initially responded to the area following reports of a traffic crash involving a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze and a 2019 Ford Flex. The investigation revealed that the driver of the Chevrolet was traveling westbound on West Hillsboro Boulevard when it struck the Ford as the driver of the Ford entered the intersection intending to make a left turn.  Following the crash, the Chevrolet came to rest in the eastbound lanes of West Hillsboro Boulevard. Once deputies arrived on scene, they learned that the driver of a 2020 Toyota Camry, John C. Hoover, was traveling eastbound on West Hillsboro Boulevard when he struck the disabled Chevrolet. Following that impact, the Chevrolet struck the adult female pedestrian who had exited the Chevrolet following the earlier collision.

On February 27, the pedestrian was pronounced deceased.

All drivers involved remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.
