BOYNTON BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — If you need another reminder that homeowner association dues and fees are not optional in Florida, look no further than Canyon Isles in West Boynton Beach. The upscale community on Lyons Road is foreclosing on a homeowner for unpaid fees amounting to $4,864.60.
According to a complaint obtained by BocaNewsNow.com, Elliot Press hasn’t paid fees and dues since June of 2023. Those fees, which include two quarterly assessments valued at $1200, a quarterly assessment valued at $1221, attorney fees, recording fees, and more, are now declared as “delinquent.” The Canyon Isles HOA wants its money, or the house.
The home in question is located at 11354 Millpond Greens Drive. It was purchased in May of 2015 for $402,000. Its appraised value now is $758,276, according to the Palm Beach County Property Appraiser’s office.
The Canyon Isles Homeowner’s Association is represented by Wasserstein, P.A. Of Boca Raton. There was no immediate response filed by Elliott Press to the foreclosure complaint.

These HOA’s are nothing but thieving extortionists. How can such a small sum get your house foreclosured on? It’s absolutely ridiculous, it’s not like back taxes. It’s a stupid HOA run by Fascists. I guess it’s the price you pay if you want the gated community lifestyle.
Attend, or even run for your local HOA. For better or worse, HOAs keep communities from turning into Greenacres or Broward County.
Good point, for a very low amount of money, that HOA, stands to gain a near Million Dollar Property.
Thieves and robbers this HOA is.
The HOA doesn’t keep the whole value of home. They get first priority for their dues, maintenance/repair, then mortgage company gets their.mortgage due, taxes due, then attorneys etc.re-selling fees. Amounts in excess of all creditor claims returned to owner foreclosed on
Community units are not just in gated or fancy neighborhoods. It cover much on community grounds incl. repairs, maintenance for pools, playground, and blogs, employees, insurance for areas not in homeowner insurance coverage, private roadways etc the legal fees and fines really mount up.
