There is now just one operational bathroom set in the B concourse, post-security, at PBIA. The other bathrooms are under renovation and no temporary bathrooms have been installed.

”We did consider temporary facilities but they would have been on the ramp which would not be possible for security reasons,” said PBIA Spokesperson Nicole Hughes. “The project should be completed by October. Once the project is complete the new restrooms will be larger.”

The dramatic bathroom reduction is leading to huge lines for those hoping to use the bathroom after clearing security. Mid-morning Friday, the line for the women’s bathroom was approximately 30 people long. While there are additional bathrooms outside of security, re-screening to use the bathroom is an ordeal.

“This is crazy,” said one parent of a young child who clearly needed to use the bathroom before boarding a flight Friday. They were behind 9 other people. “This airport used to be a nice airport. I can’t believe there’s one bathroom for thousands of people.”

Other airports traditionally take part of a gate area to install temporary bathrooms when renovations are underway. Terminal B at Palm Beach International Airport serves American Airlines, Allegiant, Avelo, Southwest, Spirit, Sun Country, and United.

  1. They need to remove the airport tax on the fares of the airlines using Terminal B until PBIA provides adequate restrooms in Terminal B. Isn’t there some law about the number of restrooms that must be provided?
The time between leaving your home and boarding the plane can be a few hours and most people use the restroom before boarding.
