BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The overnight Tornado Watch issued by the National Weather Service has expired, but the threat of significantly stormy weather continues through at least mid-day for Boca Raton, Delray Beach, Boynton Beach, Lake Worth Beach, Wellington, and all of Palm Beach County.
The National Weather Service issued this advisory Saturday morning:
Heavy Rain: Additional heavy rain is possible through early this afternoon, which may lead to additional flooding concerns for urban and poor drainage locations.Thunderstorms: Scattered thunderstorms are possible through early this afternoon. A few storms may be strong to severe and contain locally damaging winds. An isolated tornado can`t be ruled out.
Marine: Hazardous marine conditions in the form of high winds and seas are expected in both the Gulf and Atlantic waters.
Wind: Gusty south winds become westerly later today. Wind gusts up to 40 mph are possible across the east coast metro. Rip Currents: There is a high risk of rip currents for all Atlantic beaches today, and an elevated risk for the Gulf coast beaches.
The weather was so bad Friday night that the sold-out Ultra Music Festival in Miami was shut down.
