BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Boca Raton Police continue to seek tips in the death of Shawn Matthews. His body was found on the side of the road near 121 NW 40th Street around 3:30 Thursday morning. That’s near Spanish River Road and Dixie Highway.

Boca Raton investigators now believe a white Ford Explorer was the striking vehicle. Anyone with information is asked to call Officer Crawford at 561-620-6227.

Meantime, friends and family have taken to Go Fundme to raise funds to be used for a memorial and, if needed, a reward. Friends posted this:

“Shawn was a former collegiate distance runner, an avid cyclist, and a science enthusiast. He was true to Atlanta , but he absolutely loved his life in South Florida. Even if he had just a few hours of sleep, and you with fresh legs and a full 8 hours, needed a running partner, he’d be the first to join you without a single complaint while asking consistent questions about the meaning of life, the universe, and everything. A selfless friend, brother, and son who gave laughs and smiles freely.

We are raising funds to offer a reward for any information that leads to an arrest in the untimely death of our friend, as well as to cover costs for his memorial.”

Here’s the the link to help the family, and potentially, the police.
