BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — If you have happen to be driving on a suspended license (which we note can land you in jail), you have an opportunity in just days to have your license reinstated for significantly less money than it would normally cost. While you’re not getting help if you’re on a DUI or felony suspension, you can get help if it’s financial.
The Clerk of Courts in Palm Beach County issuing this statement to BocaNewsNow.com:
OPERATION GREEN LIGHT
Anyone whose driver license was suspended because of overdue traffic tickets and court fines can get back on the road to driving legally during the annual Operation Green Light event, scheduled for April 8 through April 12 in Palm Beach County.
During Operation Green Light, Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller Joseph Abruzzo will waive the 25 percent collection agency fee for anyone who pays their overdue fines in full, by phone or online.
Only the 25 percent collection agency fees on overdue tickets and court cases are waived during the week-long Operation Green Light event. All other fines and fees associated with a case must still be paid.
“Operation Green Light helps people restore their driving privileges and pay their debts,” Clerk Abruzzo said. “It can be a lifesaver for people who want to drive legally after having their license suspended but are struggling to pay collection agency fees in addition to the fines and other court costs in their case.”
Customers who want to participate in Operation Green Light must pay their fines and fees in full, either by phone or online. Payment options include: Pay Online: Payments can be made online 24 hours a day at http://www.mypalmbeachclerk.com/operationgreenlight. Pay by Phone: Customers who have their case or citation number can call the Clerk’s nCourt payment center at (561) 207-7189 between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Monday through Friday. Customers who need help finding their case information can call the Clerk’s office at (561) 274-1530 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Customers can find out how much they owe or get answers to other frequently asked questions at http://www.mypalmbeachclerk.com/operationgreenlight. Florida law requires the Clerk’s office to turn over unpaid tickets and other outstanding court fines and fees to an outside collection agency if the debt is not paid within 90 days of the due date. Those who don’t pay also have their driver license suspended.
Clerk Abruzzo is joining with other Clerk’s offices throughout Florida to host an Operation Green Light event. Operation Green Light originated in Palm Beach County in November 2014 before expanding statewide.
Customers with cases in multiple counties will need to visit the Clerk’s office in each of the counties where they have open cases to pay their fines and fees before restoring their suspended license.
