BROWARD COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — An early morning fatal crash on the Florida Turnpike is slowing traffic Thursday morning. The northbound turnpike is closed in the area of Coconut Creek. Southbound delays are mounting as of 5:45 a.m.

The crash occurred around 3:45 a.m. and may have been the result of police activity in the area of the Pompano Beach service center which was logged around 3:15 a.m. It was not immediately clear of the two are related. The crash led police to shut the turnpike northbound.
Northbound traffic is being routed off of the Turnpike. Here’s what FDOT is reporting: “Police activity in Broward County on Floridas Turnpike North, at Exit 66: Atlantic Boulevard (NB Exit/SB entrance). All lanes closed.”
