BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A major SunPass scam is underway, and the State of Florida is now warning anyone using SunPass to think twice before responding to an email or text that looks like it’s from SunPass administration.
“Please note that SunPass does not ask customers via text to make a payment or to take immediate action on their account,” said SunPass officials early Wednesday morning. “If SunPass needs to contact its customers, it will appear as follows: Email: customerservice@sunpass.com or noreply@sunpass.com. Text: 786727.”
Social media sites are full of posts from alleged victims of the phishing scam, believing they needed to replenish their accounts by providing credit card or checking account information to a specific website or email address. The website or email address is NOT affiliated with SunPass and all part of the scam.
You should only verify or take action on your SunPass account through the SunPass website or through the SunPass app which can be downloaded from your operating system’s App Store.
