BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A woman is suing Boca Raton Regional Hospital, her doctor, and several nurses after she claims that she complained of constant pain and other symptoms during the third trimester of her pregnancy, only to be largely ignored by her medical professionals. When her doctor finally told her to go to the hospital, the woman was apparently disregarded by allegedly untrained and uncaring nurses for several hours. When a medical crisis set in, and the doctor finally came to the hospital, it was allegedly clear something was very wrong. The woman had a placental abruption. Her baby was born with brain damage.
Facing the lawsuit is Sharon M. Smith-Thomas, M.D.; Lucina Women’s Health, LLC; Julia DePass and Katy O’Donoghue — both registered nurses at Boca Raton Regional Hospital. The hospital is also being sued, as is Baptist Health. The mother is identified as Inasia Michaud.
We are publishing the entire lawsuit, below. Here is a key section from the complaint just filed with the Palm Beach County Clerk of Courts.
“Dr. Thomas arrives and is screaming at the nurse, “why didn’t you call me?” Within 15 minutes, she calls for an emergency c-section. Dr. Thomas runs out to get prepped and tells the nurses to take her to the operating room. When she comes back, Inasia is still in labor and delivery room, and Dr. Thomas screams, “why isn’t she in the OR?” Inasia is finally taken into the operating room at 1:53 am and a baby girl (baby), is delivered at 2:20 am on June 24, 2022. Upon delivery, (baby) is blue, swollen, not crying, not moving, and not breathing. The medical team begins resuscitation efforts on (baby) upon birth. Soon after, (baby) is rushed off to the NICU, weighing 3.5 pounds. 53. Soon after (baby) is delivered, it is revealed that Inasia suffered a placental abruption, that her abdomen was full of blood and that (baby) did not get enough oxygen. As a consequence, (baby) suffers a permanent and irreversible brain damage.”
Boca Raton Regional had not filed a response to the suit as of the afternoon of Tuesday, April 23, 2024. The suit seeks in excess of the $50,000 statutory minimum for filing in Palm Beach County Circuit Court. We encourage you to read the complete complaint, below. The plaintiff is represented by Searcy Law.

Poor woman and child, what an awful situation and they should be sued. It won’t fix her child but can’t imagine all the medical bills, in addition to a life ruined by negligence.
Some say Americans are sue happy but this is 1000% justified.
