DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The senior living community Kings Point in Delray Beach just sent another resident to the slammer. It’s the seventh arrest of a Kings Point resident in 2024 and the 27th since January of 2023. This time, it’s Micheal Bantel of Waterford C.
It’s unclear why a 36-year-old is calling a senior living community “home,” but that’s not the crime. Violating a municipal ordinance is. The arrest report continues to be processed Tuesday morning. It was not immediately clear what ordinance Bantel allegedly violated.
Micheal Bantel was taken into custody early Tuesday morning and booked into the Palm Beach County Jail at 1:54 a.m. He remained held on $250 bond just before 8 a.m. Mr. Bantel has no significant history with the Palm Beach County legal system.
Bantel is the latest arrest of a Kings Point Delray Beach resident which BocaNewsNow.com believes has logged more arrests of residents than any other senior living community in South Palm Beach County. Among the 2023 and 2024 arrests: residents accused of drug possession, battery, drunk driving, sex offenses, drug distribution, a man who allegedly shot at someone for walking their dog on a golf course, a woman who resisted arrest, and more. Please do the math PER CAPITA on Kings Point arrests vs. Seven Bridges and let us know if Kings Point is still as crime-ridden as you report.
We have 12000 residents. Not many arrests per capita.
Also, you keep reporting that you don’t know why someone under 55 is living in a senior community. You should know that only one resident in the condo needs to be 55+, the other resident can be any age, as long as they are over 19.
In the last couple of years, I hear that the residents aren’t checked out as they were in the past. I was on the board. If an application came in, I’d get a call on a Friday and I’d go check out application on Monday. Now they let anybody in. It’s really disgusting. The renters are the worst. They don’t care because they don’t own the apartment. Too many smokers here, throwing cigarette butts on the ground. They smoke on the walkway. Years ago, my apartment reaked from smoke. They must start vetting the new people and make sure they are OK. Our maintenance is through the roof. Many people can’t afford to live here anymore. They call it a country club. That’s a joke. Every other day something is broken. They take forever to fix things like the pools for example. This place is really a little above being a dump.
