BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A local moving and storage company is on the receiving end of a lawsuit filed in Palm Beach County Circuit Court, alleging that the company delivered personal belongings covered in mold. Safebound Moving and Storage is based in West Palm Beach.
According to the suit just filed, customer Marc Brown hired Safebound to handle his move from Coral Springs to Vero Beach. The suit says Brown’s possessions were picked up in 2022 and stored in a Safebound facility. But when they were delivered in January of 2024, the possessions were covered in mold. From \
”Defendant owed Plaintiff a duty to move and store Plaintiff’s Property in a reasonable and safe manner without causing damage to Plaintiff’s Property. On or about February 15, 2022, Defendant removed Plaintiff’s Property from his home in Coral Springs and placed them in Defendant’s storage facility in Palm Beach County. On or about January 23, 2024, Defendant delivered Plaintiff’s Property to Plaintiff’s new home in Vero Beach, Florida.
At that time, Plaintiff learned that, while Plaintiff’s Property was in Defendant’s storage, it sustained extensive mold damage. Defendant was negligent and breached its duty to Plaintiff by causing extensive mold damage while storing Plaintiff’s Property. As a result of Defendant’s negligence, Plaintiff sustained economic damages, including but not limited to damaged and destroyed property.”
The suit seeks in excess of $50,000. Safebound had not filed a response processed by the Palm Beach County Clerk of Courts as of Saturday morning, May 11, 2024. We remind our readers that a civil suit is merely an allegation.
