It’s Boca Rudeton For Wednesday. And It’s All About Joseph’s Italian Market In Boca Raton and Delray Beach.

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Disgusting. That’s what readers are saying about the Joseph’s Italian Market locations in Delray Beach and Boca Raton, as the boutique market seems to be doing nothing about shoppers who bring dogs into the stores. Dogs that are not truly service animals are not permitted by law. Emotional Support Animals — often considered to be part of a nationwide scam — are not “service animals” and have no business being in a business that serves food.

Our first nominee for today’s Boca Rudeton comes from the Joseph’s location at Lyons and Atlantic in West Delray Beach. We don’t know why the woman thinks it’s okay to bring a dog in a bag in a market, but it’s not. We also note that the dog is right at the level where food tends to be. Even the dog seems perplexed as to why it’s there.

Our second nominee today comes from Joseph’s Italian Market at Town Center Mall, in Boca Raton. Same issue, different person and different location. Perhaps the international alliance of people who need to bring their dogs everywhere (IAOPWNTBTDE) sent out a memo suggesting it’s okay to bring dogs so long as they’re attached to someone’s body. Just to be clear: it’s not. We’ll keep you abreast on whatever happens with this woman and her dog.

And then there’s the woman with this dog back at the Delray Beach location of Joseph’s Italian Market. The shopper apparently had no problem leading the dog through the store, by the food that sits out, by people who may have allergies or just don’t want a pooch near their dinner. Is the dog cute? Yes. Is it supposed to be walking in a market? Not according to state and federal law.
So who wins our coveted Boca Rudeton award for this Wednesday? Our winner may shock you. It’s not any of the women seen with their dogs, above. It’s Joseph’s Italian Market. Hey Joseph’s, how about enforcing the law? How about challenging people who at least appear to be breaking the rules? How about keeping a clean and safe environment for other shoppers? What do you win? Well, as Boca Rudeton fans know, we don’t really give prizes. But if we did, it would be ticket number 973 at your “prepared foods” section when the display reads that customer #2 is being served. And you need to wait there — surrounded by dogs — until your number is called. Ironic, we think, that you have #2.
We remind our readers that there is no expectation of privacy in a public place. Don’t want to be seen here? Don’t be rude here! Send your submissions to us using the menu buttons above. It’s beyond me how these entitled feel the necessity to break the law and bring their dogs into the store. Why aren’t these stores enforcing the law?
Either they are cowards, or don’t want to avoid a confrontation that makes it on YouTube courtesy of a bystander and their iPhone camera.
I am extremely upset that anyone brings there dog or cat into a grocery store. The staff and or manager should have the authority and responsibility to kick them out 👍 so why isn’t that happening ……the store should THROW THEM OUT 👍 Rules are rules so get your animal and get out 👍
I can’t believe of all the things for people to complain about that they are complaining about little dogs who are cleaner than dirty little kids are! Why is this continually being talked about? As for food out in the open, what about the people who cough on it? What about the people who sneeze on it!! Why aren’t you worried about that??? What about the people who don’t wash their hands after using the toilet and then are running around the store touching everything from produce to the handles on food out in the open to the handles on shopping carts, etc, etc.? I’m starting to think the people of this area are just big ‘ole pains in the butt!
There are far more important things going on in this crazy world that you can complain about so stop targeting innocent little dogs!
K. Serra. It is illegal and stores are not enforcing the law. You must be one of these entitled people that impose your animals on others.
Bull shit
You must a democrat from New York or NJ
GO HOME
Brilliant argument
jsb07078, you’re the first one to scream “Orange Man bad!” when something here gets political. K. Serra’s argument, parroted by others, has no standing in reality. Sure in a perfect world, children wouldn’t act like rabid chimpanzees and grown adults wouldn’t have hygiene practices like rats, but these aren’t things as easy to achieve than simply enforcing a law that non-service animals are not allowed in stores, plain and simple. With that logic and continuing with the Boca Rudeton topics, I could argue I that should be allowed to park in two parking spaces because it’s not apparently hurting anybody, and YOU are the entitled one for refusing to walk several more steps.
Why does everything become a political argument? It’s attitudes like yours that have exacerbated the hatred that we see everywhere. Besides, the innuendo of “democrats from New York or NJ” is offensive.
No one is targeting the dogs. We’re targeting the owners.
You must be one of the AHs that bring their mutts into a place with food.
For those who don’t understand why this is a problem, please understand that many people, like myself, are extremely allergic to cats and dogs. We shouldn’t have to play Russian Roulette with our lives and pump epi-pens into our thighs and face hospital visits to buy food for our families. These people are either entitled and need to be removed from the store each time they break the law until they learn to function in a community with other human beings, or they are too emotionally unstable to leave home without their pets, and should have someone else do their shopping. Services like Instacart and Door Dash exist. Yes, these services are more expensive than shopping for yourself, but since they’re shopping in a specialty market, I’m guessing they aren’t concerned with cost.
Let’s ask ourselves, would you be doing this 20 years ago? Of course not, you would have been kicked out quicker than a bullet train. Common sense and civility is gone these days.
K. Serra. Really are you kidding. Children get bathed every day, and they are humans not animals. Animals
carry diseases humans don’t. DOGS DO NOT BELONG IN FOOD ESTABLISHMENTS. IF YOU CAN’T LEAVE HOME WITHOUT THE DOG AND ESPECIALLY IN THIS HEAT, YOU NEED TO SEEK THERAPY. Humans have allergies,
asthma and other health issues where they are allergic to dogs and cats, take medication, can be put into an asthma attack. How dare you say what you said. I’M SICK AND TIRED OF THESE ESTABLISHMENTS NOT ADDRESSING THIS AND TELLING PEOPLE YOU CAN’T ENTER WITH AN ANIMAL. I WILL NEVER EVER SET FOOT IN JOSEPHS AGAIN AND YOU ALL SHOULD DO THE SAME. STOP GOING THERE. YOU CAN ALWAYS GO TO DORIS, OR OTHER. LASTLY, WHY ISN’T THE BOARD OF HEALTH FINING? THAT IS THE OTHER QUESTION. START HITTING THESE ESTABLISHMENTS IN THE POCKETBOOK.
K. Serra couldn’t agree with you more!!!
What’s the big deal? There is way more dirt and bacteria already out there as you so effectively mentioned than on some harmless pet.
We live with it, we are covered with it (especially your snootty nosed little kid I watched some lady wipe away with her bare hand then handle produce!!!)
As for the laws? Laws are written by people widely recognized as liars and cheats. So let’s worry about what really matters.
Wash your hands, be nice to each other.
Unbelievable. Get a life.
It is the law! You want the law changed then go for it–but when you bring a NON Service animal -dog, cat or pig, and emotional animals are NOT considered SERVICE animals- then not only do you break the law BUT you harm the integrity of REAL Service animals being respected and allowed to be a SERVICE to their owner. Everybody loves little cute dogs BUT there is a place for them and I wish they could talk they would probably say to their owners: “Go shopping without me I would LOVE a little peace and quite by myself and not having to put up with You needing my constant attention! For a little while I would like to do whatever I want to do and NOT what you want to do.”
Your argument is irrelevant. These things are not mutually exclusive. I can argue that owners should not bring dogs near our food and also be grossed out by people who sneeze on the sneeze guard. You base your position on a comparison of dogs versus kids. So go ahead and call the children dirty. You sound like a real joy to be around. It’s still also true that dogs should not be in the grocery stores.
Obviously you never had kids or your kids want nothing to do with you. You need to stop putting literal animals on the same level as people. Sickening
I was at the Delray Beach location of Josephs last week. There was a fairly large dog walking the aisle with his owner. I pointed it out to an employee and told him you need to do something about the dog, it’s against the law. He looked at me and walked away.
Here we go again. The same people who want to fine the stores and the same whiny people who keep complaining that dogs are cleaner than children. I am in the former camp, but a person wants to bring in their dog and keep it in a carrier and never let it walk on the ground it is fine with me. It’s the idiots who let their dogs walk around that deserve a slap in the face.
Let me tell you something. Aren’t you lucky you don’t have allergies, asthma and others that would put you in the hospital if you had direct contact with a dog or cat, or in some cases their hair. NO ANIMALS BELONG IN FOOD ESTABLISHMENTS. NONE. HOW DARE YOU PUT THIS ON PEOPLE WHO WANT TO SHOP IN PEACE AND NOT HAVE ANIMALS SNIFFING, PEEING, DEFICATING ON THE FOOD THEY BUY. SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH YOU.
If people don’t want to leave their animals in a hot car I understand but at least have them in a carrier or stroller of some sort and not walking around. It’s truly unsanitary. People are allergic and it’s really unfair to have them walking around the stores for those of us who wish to shop in clean stores, it’s against the law.
BS, leave your freaking dogs’ home and stop bringing them into supermarkets. You AHs that put service animal vests on your nonservice mutts need to be fined. Stores need to be fined that allows nonservice mutts in their stores.
Will not shop at any store that allows these people to bring their animals into places that sell food. Why is the health department not fining these stores that allow this.
So yall. Might want to be nicer to each other. With the threat of a really bad hurricane season. Due to the changes to our sun, solar storms; warming up the oceans and raising temperatures. We may be on the verge of another Carrington Event. We are also facing a potential drought. And there are several countries threatening to nuke us; because of some very bad choices our government has made. Arguing over dogs and politics may soon seem very trivial and juvenile. Life without electricity would be difficult. Be kind to one another. We may be about to go through some difficult times. We will need each other to get through.
I just came here for the comments 😂😂
Concerned Citizen, you may be missing the point. I’m not bringing politics into the argument. I was merely responding to the moronic ramblings of the poster. I agree that anybody who brings a dog into a store and let’s it walk around should be kicked out and the store should be fined. As for people who park in two spaces, let the tow company teach them a pricey and inconvenient lesson.
Shopping centers enforce their tow-away zones like grocery stores enforce State health regulations.
I always remind the younger generations, not wishing to have children and the world is probably better off that they don’t reproduce! These social influencers, gig job workers? If you call it work? Feel entitled to bring animals to any public location like a child! I say what do you do in 10 years when they die?
Sadl
Glad to see that you are giving Joseph’s the award. Should be given to all stores that do not enforce the law. These people should be asked to leave immediately!
Enforce the law.
I have stopped shopping at Joseph’s in Delray Beach due to their tolerance of dogs near food. I have seen dogs in their store on several occasions. Joseph’s apparently does not care about the law or their customers. We will be shopping at The Boys!
KEITH WONDERFUL POINT AND SO TRUE. UP NORTH IN PA. WHERE I WAS THERE WERE SIGNS ON THE DOOR PER THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH NO ANIMALS PERMITTED IN THE STORE. NO ONE EVER TRIED, NO ANIMAL WAS EVER IN ANY FOOD ESTABLISHMENT. THIS WORLD HAS GONE BAT CRAZY. WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND THINKS IT IS OK TO SUBJECT OTHERS TO THEIR BAD BEHAVIOR, BUT UNTIL IT IS STOPPED, WE ALL SUFFER. PEOPLE GET SICK, SOMETIMES HAVE TO BE HOSPITALIZED. SOME HAVE TO ENDURE GETTING SHOTS WEEKLY FOR THEIR ALLERGIES. COME ON NOW.
I’ve spoken with managers at Publix and stores like Joseph’s and they face a dilemma. From what I understand of the Americans With Disabilities Act, you cannot ask what a person’s disability is. So how is a manager to handle this problem? Besides, I agree with the writer above who mentioned the presence of dirty children, people who sneeze and cough on food, or people who do not wash their hands after using the bathroom being more of a threat than a dog.
Lois,
BS. NO ONE IS PERMITTED TO TAKE A DOG IN A FOOD ESTABLISHMENT UNLESS THEY ARE A REAL SERVICE DOG. LET US TELL YOU, ALL THESE PICTURES THAT HAVE BEEN POSTED FOR YEARS, THE DOGS ARE NOT SERVICE DOGS. THE MANAGERS JUST DON’T WANT TO DEAL WITH DOG PEOPLE. BUT YET THE REST OF US WITH HEALTH ISSUES, WHO CARES, BE DAMNED. THE PEOPLE AND THEIR DOGS WILL WALK RIGHT OVER YOU IF YOU HAVE AN ASTHMA ATTACK AND NEED TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL. THERE ARE LAWS FOR A REASON.
THE LAW IS THAT NO ANIMALS ARE ALLOWED IN FOOD ESTABLISHMENTS. IN A RESTAURANT THEY HAVE TO BE OUTDOORS, THEY CANNOT BE INDOORS. THE BOARD OF HEALTH IS USELESS. NO ONE CARES.
LET THESE DOG PEOPLE DO WHAT THEY DO. THEY ALL NEED THERAPY. IF YOU CAN’T LEAVE THE HOUSE WITHOUT YOUR DOG IN THE HEAT, YOU NEED EXTENSIVE THERAPY. I WILL NOT EVER SHOP IN JOSEPHS NOR MY FRIENDS OR RELATIVES, OBVIOUSLY THEY DONT CARE. THAT STORE IS SMALL AND IT IS ENOUGH FOR HUMANS LET ALONE ANIMALS. I’M SURE THEY DON’T CARE BECAUSE THEY HAVE DONE ABSOULETLY NOTHING AND DON’T CARE ABOUT THE PEOPLE WHO PAY THE BILL. DOES THE DOG PAY YOU FOR THE FOOD THEY BUY, NO…..DISGUSTING
Are YOU kidding me! you are so I’ll informed I would suggest it is YOU who should stay home.
“Animals carry disease humans don’t”
There is room for everyone.
I think that people just don’t want to leave their dogs alone, due to alot of them just can’t be alone. They bark and tear up the home. However it’s not ok to bring them inside establishments that have food. I have seen them. Some dogs aren’t potty trained either, so they leave deposits here and there. I just don’t go shopping much anymore. It’s not safe to say anything to these people. You just don’t know if they will flip out, and pull out a gun. Be safe out there.
Barbara, I don’t care about them and their dog issues, I don’t care if they bark. Their issues have become all our issues who have health issues. I don’t care if they tear up their home. That is their problem. I’m sick and tired of food establishments not enforcing the law. Yes, they have defecated in stores, they have lifted their legs, my friends have witnessed it. But yet nothing happens. It is disgusting, it is beyond. Why do you think Delray doesn’t allow dogs on the beach, read about the diseases, but these food establishments allow it. Everyone who agrees needs to flood the department of health with letters, phone calls. Stop shopping at establishments who won’t have the guts to enforce the law.
In Italy it is quite normal to bring dogs into the markets.
