BROWARD COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A man who seemingly wanted to be struck and killed by a Tri-Rail Train was, in fact, struck and killed by a Tri-Rail Train. The Broward Sheriff’s Office releasing this statement Wednesday afternoon to BocaNewsNow.com about the Monday incident:

“Around noon on May 20, Broward County Regional Communications received a report of a crash involving a Tri-Rail train and a pedestrian in the 4500 block of North Powerline Road in Oakland Park. The preliminary investigation reveals that a male subject was walking southbound within the eastern sidewalk of Powerline Road approaching the railroad crossing north of Prospect Road.

The pedestrian then entered the western railroad track when he stopped and faced the oncoming train. As the train approached, the horn was activated in order to have the pedestrian move from the tracks. The pedestrian did not move and was struck.

The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on scene. BSO’s Traffic Homicide Unit responded to investigate the circumstances of the incident.”

  1. As opposed to having tag lines read “man hit and killed by tri rail” why don’t you just say we had another person commit suicide by train. Everytime there is an “accident” it’s always the human not the train that malfunctioned
