Police were called to the scene and determined that Paul Clarke was under the influence of something.
BocaNewsNow.com first reported on Paul Clarke’s arrest on June 21st. We have now obtained new details about the arrest, and what led police to Clarke. The following is the text of the police report filed by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. We note that we do not edit official incident reports filed by investigators.
“On 6/20/2024 at approximately 1556 hours, I responded to the Mobil Gas Station located at 20385 S. State Road 7 in unincorporated Boca Raton, Palm Beach County, in reference to a male subject slumped over behind the wheel of his vehicle in front of gas pump #2. The caller who notified PBSO Communications in regards to the subject slumped over behind the wheel of his vehicle stated to PBSO Communications that it is believed that the vehicle is still in drive and the subject has his foot on the brake pedal.
Upon my arrival at the above location, I observed a maroon Nissan Maxima bearing FL tag RHMA72 in front of gas pump #2.

The brake lights on the vehicle were illuminated. I immediately placed my marked PBSO vehicle directly behind the rear bumper of the Nissan. D/S Grant #7714 did the same at the front of the Nissan by placing his vehicle directly upon the front bumper. I approached the driver’s side door and observed a white male behind the wheel of the vehicle and as I approached the driver’s side of the Nissan I noticed that the gas access door on the vehicle was not adjacent to the gas pumps.
Palm Beach County Fire Rescue arrived on scene and they attempted to awake the male by getting his attention on the passenger side of the Nissan. After a short while, the male awoke and his vehicle lurched forward but did not strike any other vehicle. He was asked to open the door and all the while appeared to be disorientated. I grabbed the driver’s side door and it was unlocked. I opened the driver’s door to make contact with the driver of the vehicle. I asked him for his driver’s license which he retrieved from his wallet. The driver was identified as Paul P. Clarke. While I was verbally engaged with Clarke I was able to detect an odor of an unknown alcoholic beverage. I requested Clarke mlexit his vehicle because I was conducting an investigation.
He initially refused to exit the vehicle and after several requests I informed him that I would use my Taser (Electronic Control Device) to get him out of his vehicle. At that time, Clarke complied to exit his vehicle.”
According to police, Clarke failed a field sobriety test and was transported to a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office breath testing facility. Police say he “blew a .181 and .164, respectively.” The legal limit is .08. Clarke was placed under arrest and charged with Driving Under The Influence. At age 41, Clarke is significantly younger than most residents of Century Village Boca Raton, a senior living community.
