BROWARD COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Give yourself lots of extra time if you’re heading to Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport this morning. The airport tells BocaNewsNow.com that all garages — long term and short term — are now closed. Capacity was reached earlier this morning.
The airport says holiday travelers arriving in personal vehicles led to the closure. There’s no more room for cars in the airports multiple garages. Overflow parking lots are now open, but are off-property and require significant extra time to use.

The overflow parking address is 1661 SW 40th Street in Fort Lauderdale. It’s near I-95 and SW 40th, just off the airport. A shuttle bus transfers travelers from the lot to the airport. The parking fee is $10 and the lot prefers credit cards for payment. There are several private lots in the area which also provide shuttle service to and from the airport.
Expect TSA lines to also be long for travelers who do not have PreCheck or Clear. Airport parking lot closures traditionally run for several hours. We encourage you to download the Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport app — available from both Apple and Google — to check realtime parking status.
