Delray Beach Police made an arrest after a private citizen asked as a decoy, then created a scene in Walmart. Is that entrapment?

DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Palm Beach County man, pretending to be a child, apparently lured a Delray Beach man to the Walmart on South Military Trail for a “hookup.” The social media user, identified as Dustin Lampros, then called Delray Beach and had the man arrested.

It is unclear why Lampros, a social media user who apparently spends his time posing as a child and luring men into public places, is involved with the Delray Beach Police Department at all. He is not law enforcement. It is unclear if prosecutors believe his actions can lead to an effective criminal prosecution. It is unclear if his actions are considered “entrapment.”

Delray Beach Police, however, did arrest Christopher Burt at the WalMart and charged him with “traveling to meet a minor for an unlawful sex act.” He was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail and later released on $25,000 bond. A court date is pending.

We are publishing the complete affidavit of probable cause, provided to BocaNewsNow.com by the Palm Beach County Clerk of Courts. We ask you, our readers, what you think of a private citizen luring people into an apparently illegal situation — only to be nabbed by law enforcement and charged with an illegal act completely initiated by someone who is not law enforcement. 1. Good for him. Law enforcement needs help from the public. Funds have been cut.
We must remove these predators from our communities and lock them up in general population

  2. This is a quite common occurence in the rest of the U.S.
Citizens make complaints every day causing perps to be arrested.
If you are interested and not putting yourself in harm’s way, more power to you.
If Law Enforcement feel they do not have a strong enough case, they will not proceed.

  3. It should be a lawful arrest! The actor arrived with the intent to have relations with a “kid”. The citizen should be applauded and I don’t see any problem with the citizen’s actions.
