The Palm Beach County School District has more than 700 job openings that use the word “teacher” in the description. The revelation comes just weeks before the start of the 2024-2025 school year.
In Boca Raton, at least 61 teacher positions are open. Among the schools seeking staff: Coral Sunset Elementary, Verde K-8, Del Prado Elementary, West Boca Raton Community High School, Eagles Landing Middle School, Addison Mizner School, Eagles Landing Middle School, Spanish River High School, Boca Raton Middle, Whispering Pines Elementary, Calusa Elementary, Omni Middle, Waters Edge Community Elementary.
In Delray Beach, at least 39 teacher positions are open. The schools in need of teachers include: Morikami Park Elementary, Orchard View Community Elementary, Atlantic High, S.D. Spady Elementary, Banyan Creek Elementary, Village Academy, Carver Middle, Plumosa School for the Arts, Pine Grove Elementary.
In Boynton Beach, the vacancy count is at least 55 in elementary, middle, and high schools. Among the schools needing help: Boynton Beach High, Congress Middle, Galaxy Elementary, Forest Park Elementary, Crosspointe Elementary, Poinciana Elementary, Hagen Road Elementary, Freedom Shores Elementary, Christa McAuliffe Middle, Sunset Palms Elementary, Rolling Green Elementary.

There are thousands of retired teachers in Palm Beach and Broward counties.
Many,I would guess, could be open to working 2 or 3 days a week or split shifts.
Or be available on a subject only basis–like a math or English or history teacher
Might not be in line with current thinking-but thinking outside of the box often brings good results
