Elyse Schlacter, 88, Has Liver Cancer. Her Polo Club Neighbor, Randi Rothstein, Is Allegedly Annoying.

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Boca Raton woman who says she has stage four liver cancer is suing her neighbor, claiming that neighbor bangs on the wall which causes great distress. The lawsuit was just filed in Palm Beach County Circuit Court.
According to the complaint reviewed by BocaNewsNow.com, Elyse Schlacter lives in a unit at 5166 Lake Catalina Drive in Boca which is in “Catalina At The Polo Club.” Schlacter says her neighbor, Randi Rothstein, is a problem. Schlacter is suing Rothstein for more than $75,000.
”On multiple occasions,” write attorneys for Schlacter, “(Rothstein) knocked aggressively and loudly on the wall shared with (Schlacter’s) home. On each occurrence, (Schlacter) was startled by excessive banging, violent language, threats to Plaintiff’s person, and was imminent fear of physical danger or bodily harm. (Schlacter) is a vulnerable adult who suffered significant distress and discomfort as a result of (Rothstein’s) intentional conduct. (Schlacter’s) discomfort and distress, resulting from the (Rothstein’s) actions, disallow her to peacefully rest in her home. (Rothstein’s) conduct would induce discomfort and distress in any person of reasonable sensitivities.”
The suit also claims that Rothstein’s actions rise to the level of “assault” and “elder abuse.” Schlacter is notably represented by an attorney who shares her last name, the law offices of Brett L. Schlacter. It was unclear Thursday afternoon if Randi Rothstein has representation. It was also unclear if the Polo Club HOA, or the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office, had tried to resolve the situation before the lawsuit was filed.

I sure hope that Mrs. Schatler, filed complaints in writing to the board, regarding all of the noise. If so, it may definitely help her with her case. My fingers are crossed for you!
I live here and know both these women. Ms Schlacter was sued by the other woman for excessive dog barking on her balcony all day every day and you can hear it several buildings away. The neighbor was nice and called her several times only to be treated poorly snd hung up on. The rules are clear from the Board and HOA that dogs causing noise that becomes a nuisance shall be removed. The neighbor tried several times to be nice and Elyse became rude and difficult. The neighbor then sued her snd now because she’s older she is using flat and defamatory claims to sue her neighbor when they never spoke again after Elyse hung up on her rudely in April. This is clearly a retaliatory suit that is all lies. I feel bad for the woman being sued because she’s quiet and suffers from her own illness. Starting a lawsuit using the fact that Elyse is sick and old is all her grandson trying to get back at the other neighbor for her lawsuit against the loud incessant barking all day and night and there are clear rules about this. I wish I never bought a house in this community because the Board and HOA can’t handle their own rules and now an old lady is using her grandson to defame one of the most quiet neighbors on this block.
