UPDATE: FDOT reports at 8:18 a.m. that lanes are now open but traffic is congested din the area. We expect traffic to return to normal over the next hour or so.

BROWARD COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Traffic is not moving on I-95 in Broward County following an early morning crash. The crash was first reported around 3:30 a.m. The Interstate was closed a short time later. The crash occurred in the area of Stirling Road and is affecting northbound traffic. We are awaiting official details as of 6:45 but can report that anyone heading northbound to Palm Beach County from South Broward is going to face huge problems Monday morning.

Here’s what the Florida Department of Transportation is reporting as the situation continues to unfold:

MAJOR INCIDENT (3:41 a.m., updated 6:30 a.m.): Crash in Broward County on I-95 North, before Exit 22: SR-848/Stirling Rd. All lanes closed. Last updated at 06:30 AM. Road Ranger Ahead. Move Over or Slow Down.

FDOT cameras in the area show what appears to be complete gridlock with red taillights as far as the cameras can see. Anyone heading northbound should exit wherever they are and head to the Florida Turnpike which appears to be a decent ride as of 6:48 a.m. Monday.
