”Bagels And Whole Lot More” Lived Up To Its Name, According To State Inspector.

CORAL SPRINGS, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Bagels and Whole Lot More at 10281 West Sample Road in Coral Springs apparently lived up to its name, at least according to a health inspector reporting to the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation which ordered the restaurant shut. The “whole lot more,” according to the inspection report, included rodents and roaches.

High Priority – Rodent activity present as evidenced by rodent droppings found. Storage room separate from kitchen 1. Approx 12 rodent droppings on window sill in storage room separate from kitchen. 2. Approx 15 rodent droppings on bagel trays in storage room separate from kitchen. Operator cleaned, and sanitized area.
High Priority – Time/temperature control for safety food cold held at greater than 41 degrees Fahrenheit. 1. KITCHEN 2DOOR;Butter (54F); Cut Melon (57F) Tuna salad( 54F) 2. KITCHEN WALK IN COOLER RIGHT-; cooked noodles (50F); butter (50F) items held in unit less than 4 hours. Observed door in disrepair. Per operator foods not prepared or portioned today. Operator moved items to walk in meat cooler. **Corrective Action Taken**
High Priority – Time/temperature control for safety food, other than whole meat roast, hot held at less than 135 degrees Fahrenheit. Cookline; sausage (125F); home fries (122F), in unit less than 4 hrs, observed items under no temperature control. Operator reheated items. **Corrective Action Taken**
High Priority – Employee touched soiled apron/clothes and then engaged in food preparation, handled clean equipment or utensils, or touched unwrapped single-service items without washing hands. Employee pulled up clothing after washing hands and putting gloves on and continued to prep customers orders.
Intermediate – Menu does not identify which items contain raw or undercooked animal foods covered by the consumer advisory. Menu missing identifier for nova served on the menu.
Basic – Dead roaches on premises. 1 Dead roach behind entry door to office, away from kitchen. 1 Dead on floor behind ice machine in storage room. 1 Dead on floor by storage room exit door.
Basic – Employee beverage container on a food preparation table or over/next to clean equipment/utensils. 1. Front prep area by entry to kitchen personal drink next to bagel toaster and cutting board.
Basic – Employee with no beard guard/restraint while engaging in food preparation. All cooks with no beard guards. **Repeat Violation**

Basic – Cold holding equipment not maintained in good repair. Do not store time/temperature control for safety food in this unit until the unit is repaired. Walk in cooler for produce and dairy door in disrepair. Gap in lower right corner, door strip detached.
“Bagel And A Whole Lot More” was ordered closed on August 9th. It was permitted to reopen later in the day when just two “basic” violations were noted. An unannounced follow-up inspection is expected.
