Dog Days Of Summer Show How Rude Some In Boca, Delray Truly Are

Sprouts Dog

It’s Boca Rudeton For Sunday. Dogs, Parking Problems.

Sprouts Dog
Why does this woman Have a dog in Sprouts in Delray Beach? Readers want to know.

BY: STAFF REPORT | BocaNewsNow.com

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — In the latest examples of rudeness across Boca Raton, Delray Beach, Boynton Beach, and South Palm Beach County, people are still bringing dogs where they’re not legally allowed, and parking in questionable ways. We start with the woman, above, carrying her dog in Sprouts Market in Delray Beach. Our tipsters want to know why she has a dog in a supermarket, whether she’s claiming it’s a highly trained service animal that is trained to perform a specific function, and why Sprouts is permitting animals in the supermarket at all. Florida and federal statutes prohibit non-service animals from entering food-serving facilities. An “emotional support animal” is not a service animal.

Our next animal where animals don’t belong is the poofy woofy dog, below. Again, we don’t know if the woman contemplating cheese and butter in Trader Joe’s in East Boca Raton is claiming that her dog is a highly-trained service animal or not. If she is, we’d love to know what specific health or life-saving task the dog we’ll randomly call Gigi — because it looks like a Gigi — performs. If, as our tipster suspects, this dog isn’t a trained service animal, we wonder why it is in Trader Joe’s in East Boca Raton.

Dog-Trader-Joes-East-Boca
We’re going to call this dog Gigi. We don’t know if that it’s name or not, but only a woman with a dog named Gigi would have it dressed like this, groomed like this, and bring it — potentially illegally — into Trader Joe’s in East Boca Raton.

We also ask why the dog, below, is permitted in the food court in Boca Raton’s Town Center Mall. If you forget the part about no one wanting to shop in a mall anymore because of the grossness seen above — like someone bringing a dog into the mall and having it sit in a seat in the food court — you still have to wonder what Simon Property Group (NYSE: SPG) is thinking when it apparently has managers look the other way as people use the mall as a dog walking and defecating facility. Stay classy, Boca Raton Town Center Mall!

Town-Center-Mall-Dog-Food-Court
Even the dog looks like it doesn’t understand what it’s doing inside Boca Raton Town Center Mall — at the food court. We don’t understand, either.

The problems at Joseph’s Market locations in Delray Beach and Boca Raton Town Center Mall also continue. The image below was captured on Sunday. Questions the tipster: why is a store employee seemingly encouraging the bad (and potentially illegal) behavior of a customer, instead of telling the shopper to get the dog out of the store? Great questions. No answers. Joseph’s continue to be a major offender of dog policies.

Dog-Josephs-Market-Town-Center
Bad messaging! The cashier is apparently embracing the dog in the Joseph’s at Town Center Mall, instead of explaining that it’s illegal to bring a pet into a supermarket.

And we’ll wrap up this edition of Boca Rudeton with the parking job captured by a Palm Tran driver in West Boca Raton. Even considering that someone may need wheelchair access in or out of the van, we believe policy is that the van pull up to the side of the building for loading and unloading, which raises the question: why is Palm Tran van 3811 taking four spaces in the Dick’s parking lot in West Boca. We’ll let you write your own joke about the driver.

Palm-Tran-Van-Boca-Raton
There may be a reason that this Palm Tran van in West Boca Raton is taking up four spaces, but the reason is quickly mitigated by the fact that these drivers are supposed to help passengers curbside, not in the middle of a parking lot.

So who wins the latest edition of Boca Rudeton? It’s a close one, but we’re going with the grossness at Boca Raton Town Center Mall. Even though malls are just disgusting in 2024, and really used only by, well, pretty much no one, this still rises to a level of disgusting that we don’t traditionally see. People with dog at Town Center Mall, you are our winner! Congratulations! We don’t really give prizes, but if we did, it would be the revocation of your Amazon Prime membership. Clearly people who act like this in a mall should only be shopping in a mall and have no access to anything that could be home delivered. Leave that for the people who don’t want to be in the same place as people like you who apparently believe it’s okay to bring an animal into a human shopping location. Congrats!

We remind our readers that there is no expectation of privacy in a public place. Don’t want to be seen here? Don’t be rude here! Send your submissions to us using the menu buttons above. 1. Unfortunately my hands were full and I couldn’t take pics but TWO dogs were in DelrayBeach Walmart yesterday
One dog had to be pulled in to store as it didn’t want to follow owner
Can’t imagine that dog behaving in store
Both were larger than middle size
Today a couple brought their little pooch with a non service dog vest into bagel tree in delray

    Don’t people get it ???
Dogs Do NOT belong where there is food!
My babies don’t belong in front seat of car or not in car seat
    All illegal and not safe

    1. In a restaurant where I am eating if someone walks in with a dog I tell the manager to get rid of the animal or I am standing up and walking out. And no, I don’t wait for the check.

      1. I find it ignorant people bringing in their dog in food establishments. I love dogs but not where I eat. And it disgusting when employees at this establishment pet the dog then continue doing their job and do not was their hands. And when dogs sit at the table or bar is unsanitary. What about people allergic to dogs as I am, why are they allowed to invade our space all right to have a Sanitary area as we eat food.
I repeat ignorance you’re telling me your dog. Can’t stay home while you go food shopping for one hour, but you can leave it home all day while you’re working very rude.

    1. This truly isn’t the “rude” problem in these cities. I am a Flridian through and through. Been here nearly 50 years. My entire life. NEVER EVER have I encountered such entitled and nasty attitudes as I have since living in South Florida the past 15 years. People in all other parts of the state know how to be authentic and courteous. NOOOOO…. dogs and parking are even a blip on the radar. These people have the audacity to stare you down and when you say ” hello, how are you doing ?” , they look at you like you have 3 heads. What’s up with the lack of manners. Then they have more times than I can count had the nerve to ask me where I am from (with their permanent scowl that now is literally isn’t capable of any other expression because they have not smiled in so long that the wrinkles have set to an extreme frown) because of “my accent”…. I laugh in their faves and say the Sunshine state. Ya know the one you invaded from the North and spread your gnarly disdain for life all about. YOU have the accent you rude rude weirdo. I can’t for the life of me see how someone is so miserable. They have money so that’s not stressing them out. Most are retired so that cannot be it. The weather is great so not that. They have more than one home so they have options if they feel they need a change of scenery. There’s plenty to do here so boredom isn’t the answer. I seriously feel for the hardened stone cold personalities they possess with such vigor. They need professional help but if they got it they’d bitch about that too. Go back home if you are not happy here. You are the people ruining this great state. It is so much more pleasant the further North one goes within Florida. It is a true shame. They are the most greedy self sabotaging fools I have ever encountered. Before I came into contact unfortunately with these transplants I would have never even written such a comment. I fight becoming jaded by them each and every day. The pettiness is on a different level. So until I can escape this portion of my home state I just continue to smile and greet all I make eye contact with whether they reciprocate or not. I pray for their mental state. I pray they see the time passing and want to enjoy life rather than see it so obviously as a chore. “Bless their little hearts…”

      1. This is the most accurate comment I have read. People in this area are so entitled and think that the rules do not apply to them. No matter how much your “baby” makes you happy or helps you to cope with emotional stress, the “baby” does not belong in a grocery store, which is a law in the State of Florida. How one can think that the law does not apply to them is astonishing to me. Just reading some of these comments shows the sense of entitlement. The rules apply to all of us, no matter our race, religion, age, etc.

    2. Our parrot Miss Birdie, lives on our shoulders from the time we uncover her birdcage, till bedtime. If we go out, or it’s her bathtime, she’s goes back in here house, no matter how loud she squaks. Tough luck Miss Birdie is what we say, and she understands. No way would we ever take her shopping, or dining out. Especially right now, as she’s molting, and her feathers are a flying everywhere. Publix recently banned non service dogs, and I think this is a good thing.

  2. It doesn’t bother me if they are watched and don’t bark or make on public property. What did people do all the years before? Did we die or get sick?

    1. They left there animals home where they belong!! What part of this don’t you understand Denise??? Have seen a dog make in a bagel place and it was gross to be honest. Who has the right to subject the rest of us to this kind of behavior? No one does.

  3. it’s funny you constantly make such an issue out of these dogs. Why do you think the stores are allowing them because it makes people happy. When I’ve had my little baby with me people constantly stop to Pet specially the older people because they’re not allowed animals. You just really hate animals. If they’re in somebody’s pocketbook, they’re not disturbing anybody if they’re walking on the floor that’s because that’s the store policy. They want them on the floor instead of being clean and safe in a bag in a cart. So stop with this animal. They make people happy and put smiles on many many faces

      1. Technically per ADA guidelines you can only ask the person with a dog if it is a service dog and what service does the dog perform. Big lawsuit if they ask for proof… so technically it will hit the store or employee for discrimination or ADA lawsuit. I have a service dog and mine is a psychiatric service dog that is mentioned in types of service dogs.

      2. The sense of entitlement is so pervasive, especially in Boca and to a lesser extent Delray. Shame on the establishments tha allow this to continue. Take a picture of the offender and post it online, maybe they’ll be shamed enough to correct their behavior, or send it to the store or restaurant that does nothing to stop this

      3. It’s also against the law to photograph these paying customers without they’re knowledge while on private property. And, yes all of these stores are private property with explicit rules that no photographs be taken. But I don’t see that stopping you.
There has been a few separate occasions where I saw a women be led out of the store for taking photographs of people. Seeing the shock on her face as the manager and security led her out of the store was glorious.

    1. I can relate to the comment about nasty people. I’m from North Carolina, where most people are friendly and nice. I’ve lived here since 1984, and I can relate to the people here being nasty. Thank goodness that where I live, in Margate, people are friendly and nice. I’ve always disliked Boca. People there are different. I truly believe that the more money they have, the worst they become. As far as the dogs go, well it is a issue that people seem to be ignoring. I love dogs, but not in a store or restaurant. If they pee or otherwise try not to step in it, and ask for the manager. Good luck out there. Don’t start any issues with these nasty people. As for me, I will always be courteous to people. That is how I am.

    2. Sorry to tell you this Andrea, but your little baby is an animal not a person. It doesn’t belong in stores that sell food. It’s the law! Maybe you are lonely and have an animal for comfort, because you lost a loved one, if so I am sorry. But your pet doesn’t have to go everywhere you do. Dogs usually relieve themselves on lawns and grassy areas. They step in excrement and bring it into the food stores where you illegally bring them. This excrement gets on floors, furniture, shopping carts, tables, and onto people’s food. It’s disgusting! That’s why there are laws against it. OBEY THEM!

      1. Not true! I lived in Boca for a year when I first moved to Florida from CT. I have never seen nicer people in my life. If you want rude, go to Hollywood where I live now. If they understand you at all, people here are amazingly rude. I dont even say “hi” to people when I’m walking anymore…not worth it. Boca was my dream city. I pray it doesn’t go down the dravn. 😔

    3. I could care less if people bring dogs anywhere…they are better behaved than children and make people happy. If they have earned their “Canine Good Citizen” from training…they should be let in. In Europe they go all over. As for the bottom of the foot of the dog…guarantee the bottom of our shoes are worst. I’ve been at a grocery store when a kid pooped – stinking everything up…so we do put up with a lot. I’ve seen people eat olives out of the olive bar with their fingers, Seen pleople try on product for feet and close the bottle like it’s still for sale.

      1. You are awesome 👏🏼 Then the worse is when everyone have to deal in a plane with a kid screaming, throwing food and toys, pushing the front seat, etc etc etc and normally dogs are quietly in their little space that is PAID for.

      2. You are awesome 👏🏼 Then the worse is when everyone have to deal in a plane with a kid screaming, throwing food and toys, pushing the front seat, etc etc etc and normally dogs are quietly in their little space that is PAID for.

        1. Thank god the FAA got wise and started banning the fake ESA’s. Here’s the issue: children are human. Dogs are dogs. Perhaps if you had children, and not dogs, you would know the difference. Go buy a good pair of noise canceling headphones.

    4. This article seems more about anger management, than anything else. Get an emotional support dog, you need it. You’ve got personal dog issues because majority of people aren’t bothered by these companions.

      1. Apparently people find it ok to be disrespectful no matter in person or on line. Unless you’re a psychiatrist you don’t know what people need! I love animals also but I’m DEATHLY allergic to cats and dogs. Stand down and be mindful that just because people don’t want an animal…yes animal.. where it doesn’t belong doesn’t make them psychological incapacitated. My condition causes ME distress when i know i could stop breathing..,should i be required to stay locked in my house because of you entitled people??? And NO MY CONDITION IS NOT ALLEVIATED BE ALLEGRA!!! KEEP YOUR ANIMALS AT HOME!!!

    5. Prohibition against dogs in restaurants, grocery stores, stores of any kind in the public arena where grocery items or food is served is Illegal and just common sense. Dogs other than a “real”, legitimate service dog in these mentioned establishments cannot be tolerated as they are unhealthy and illegal! The countering comments are vapid and without merit. To say i’m a dog hater, have anger management issues etc. are bogus!
Dogs belong in your home or backyard not in my space.! Not everyone thinks your “baby” (animal) is cute!
To say these little white Foo Foo dogs are service dogs. Please give me a break.
We need to hold these people accountable to the law.
Just like the proliferation of these fraudulent issued Handicap/Disabled parking stickers. We need to hold the Doctors accountable.
In closing, I have a novel idea. Write tickets with starting fine of $250 for the first offense, just like for violating Handicap parking spaces. Write the ticket, fine the incorrigibles and get these filthy dogs and parking scofflaws persecuted and publicly exposed!
      Enough already.

      1. “To say these little white Foo Foo dogs are service dogs. Please give me a break.” Please describe to me what a seizure alert dog looks like? You do realize there is more than just seeing eye dogs out there right? I’m not saying I’m for pets in stores, that is against the law. The law is the law, and nobody should be above the law. However, you do not allow that a small dog can possibly be a service animal just because it’s small is ludicrous. Seizure alert dogs provide a vital service, and they can be any size dog.

    6. Enough with the dogs. What’s the big deal. Dogs are welcome everywhere in Europe. Americans are so uptight and in everyone’s business. Better to be concerned with the fact that in Boca I have to look at every face like a horror movie. Fish lips, face pulled so tight, fake breasts and nasal whiny voices. Much more vial than any dog.

    7. Why won’t you include photos of dogs in inappropriate places from areas a little further north? I’ve sent photos and reports a couple of times from the Palm Beach area and you never use them. You know….we read your digital paper too. We could use a little hope “up here” because the dog problem is getting really bad! Recent example? A MAJOR socialite with her standard size poodle in a MAJOR Palm Beach restaurant. I didn’t get a photo since I knew it wouldn’t be published! No incentive…

    8. A service dog is a specially trained and expensive dog. They should be wearing a vest and have a license as proof. What the function is not anyone’s business and medical information is protected by HIPAA. A therapy dog is any dog that makes you feel good. It doesn’t belong in places that sell food. I grew up with dogs in my house we never took them any place except the park for exercise. It’s time people grew up and stopped the nonsense. Maybe they should increase the fines on places that don’t toss these self entitled people out.

    9. You can’t be serious about how many people need a service animal and they need one to feed their face or buy a damn, Bannan. Give me a break. Sad and weak. It only hurts the real people who need some help and know they get the dirty looks now because of the wannabe privilege.

    10. I pray it doesn’t go down the drain. 😔

    11. I’m not bothered by dogs. It’s incredibly rude, self absorbed people that bother me. I don’t want to shop for food or eat in a restaurant with your pets. Next time I see animals in food serving areas I’m lighting up a big fat cigar.

    12. I love dogs! Especially mine, who recently went through health issues and I had to take 2 weeks off work and spend thousands to make him better. That being said, dogs are dogs and people are people. Dogs do not belong where the law prohibits them just because you want them there. There are people with health issues and allergies that shouldn’t have to deal with your dogs while they are eating or shopping. We all need to be more considerate of our fellow humans and not our own wants and desires.

    13. I can’t believe the number of people that care about this article. It’s a regular news piece??!! with all that’s going on in the world and even in this town , people are concerned that animal lovers are taking their furry friends everywhere with them? Nobody’s allergic to anyone’s dog in a public place?! come on!! The dogs aren’t doing anything inappropriate get over it.

    14. I am a dog lover and guess what, my dogs stay at home when I go out. As they should…. It must be a New York thing as nearly all the people I see in Palm Beach county that do this are from there. Also, the people with the terrible attitudes and no manners, are also from there. I had no idea when moving to South Florida I was actually moving to South New York. Disgusting.

    15. The store management is to blame for animal tolerance. Until store managers are financially punished, dogs will continue to be in stores. If I show up at the store with my pet rat on my shoulder, will it be OK?
