PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Delta Airlines continues to have customer service issues following the massive Crowd Strike computer problem two weeks ago that virtually shut down the airline days — stranding hundreds of thousands of travelers.

Sunday night, the airline canceled and delayed a series of flights to New York out of Palm Beach International Airport as horrible weather moved into the New York City area. Cancellations due to weather are not necessarily newsworthy, but the inability of the airline to effectively handle luggage return is. The airline, according to those sharing details with BocaNewsNow.com, inexplicably used one luggage carousel for four incoming flights and the off-loading of luggage that was bound for LaGuardia.

The Delta Airlines baggage handler tasked with off-loading the LaGuardia luggage — instead of leaving it on the carousel — placed all of that flight’s luggage against the baggage carousel, partially blocking access for travelers on other flights. Several other carousels — accessible by Delta Airlines at PBI — went unused. It was not immediately clear why Delta employees Sunday night made the choices they did.

While challenging weather remains in the northeast, the Monday morning travel situation looks better. Just one flight at PBI is canceled as of 7 a.m., with eight delays recorded. FLL is reporting three cancelations and 22 delays. MIA is reporting eight cancelations and eight delays. New York remains the major problem. LaGuardia is reporting 88 cancelations as of 7 a.m. with 46 delays. JFK is reporting 62 cancelations with 96 delays. 165 cancelations are on the books at Newark as of 7 a.m., with 53 delays. 1. They probably had one poor soul working at the time and that was the best they could do at the time. Airlines notoriously understaff airport personnel, and baggage department is usually outsourced as well. Customers should demand that airlines be required they have more staffing and not continue to reduce personnel at airport.
