BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A 75-year old woman is fighting for her life Friday night after driving into the Intracoastal early this morning. The woman is being treated at Boca Raton Regional Hospital.

Boca Raton Police tell BocaNewsNow.com that the woman was lost when she ended up on a boat ramp in Silver Palm Park in the area of 600 East Palmetto Park Road. Realizing she was in trouble, the woman called 911 as she entered the Intracoastal as her vehicle filled with water.

Boca Raton Police staged a heroic rescue and pulled her from the vehicle. The woman was rushed to BRRH. Investigators believe this was nothing more than a major mishap — the woman didn’t appreciate where she was as she drove into the water.

A witness was on the scene who told police he didn’t know how to swim, but did help police locate the vehicle and the victim.
